Scooby
“There is enough room for both of us.” {joell}
From the moment he sees the angel enter the room, Elliott feels his blood boiling. He wanted to be the bigger person, not start any drama, for once a party with his friends could be a chill fun experience instead of a cursed catastrophe, but that guy just got on his nerves so badly that he didn’t know if he would be able to control himself.
Everyone is dancing or talking in different groups, some are by the table with food and drinks, others near the music just feeling the rhythm, but Elliott was just enjoying the view and relaxing sitting on his own while drinking a sweet alcoholic cocktail.
He notices how Joe wanders around, not sure where to go or what to do, and a part of him wants to be nice and offer him the seat next to him, but a bigger part of him wants to spread his legs and hid the fact that the only empty seat is right there. There was no room for both of them, he sounded like a cheesy western movie on his head as he slowly moved his leg. But he felt bad, observing the other L.Naturae be so lost and alone, he remembered himself feeling the same way and the sense of insecurity it produced in him.
He moves his leg back in place, the seat next to him it is now clearly free, but he doubts the angel would even want to, though he seems to be wrong, whatever it is, if the angel is bored or just looking for a fight, he would know now.
Joe sits next to him, and Elliott feels the level of awkwardness raising so high that it could almost open a whole on the ceiling.
He looks at the floor, at his hands, at his drink, at the floor again and then sighs.
“So… eh…” he tries to start a conversation “ Have you heard about the dyslexic devil worshipper?” he jokes.
Joe looks at him confused.
“He sold his soul to Santa” Elliott smiles delivering his punch line and waiting for a reaction, but after a few seconds, the only one laughing is Elliott at his own stupid joke.
Joe seems to show a little smile, maybe a confused one, but still, he seemed more comfortable.
“Who is Santa?” he asks after a while.
“Oh… right” Elliott realizes Joe barely knows anything about anything really “Some Commons believe there is an adorable old bearded guy who brings presents to everyone the night of December 24th, he is called Santa”
Joe nods still very obviously confused “Why?”
Elliott shrugs “I guess that’s how they think about magic” he makes a wild guess.
After a while they continue the chat, becoming more and more comfortable with each other, and even they have their differences they could just talk about something random and fun and laugh together. Elliott felt conflicted about it, thinking that millions of year of conflict couldn’t just simply be erased by a dumb conversation about Santa Claus, but he found himself smiling and thinking maybe there was room for the both of them, much more than the literal sense.
