"Frank why do you even have this?"

It’s silent between Frank and Karen in the trailer, Frank by the drivers seat and Karen sitting in the back of the trailer on top of the small bed. She’s been there for the past few hours, going over papers that Karen had grabbed when she had snuck into a drug dealers home. She’d gotten caught while she was there and kept for several hours until Frank had arrived.

How Frank knew Karen was there, she had no idea and she wasn’t about to question it. Questioning Frank just made Karen have more questions that she probably wouldn’t get the answer to. She tapped her fingers along the paper and for a few more moments and then set them down in front of her, looking up at Frank.

He was lost in thought, something that Karen had noticed that he did only in this trailer. She figured he must have felt somewhat safe in here, and she understood. Frank had mentioned reinforcing it but she never asked about what. He was a bit of a genius when it came to thinks like that, Karen had noticed.

Karen stood to her feet and walked over to the coffee pot Frank had made during her shower in the trailer. It was a tight shower, but it was either that or have blood caked into her hair. She picked the tight shower that made her feel a bit claustrophobic.

She refilled her coffee mug and took a slow sip from it before she moved to sit down in the front passenger seat next to Frank. “I don’t know what any of that means, do you?” She asked, referring to the notes written on that piece of paper. It was written in code probably invented by the dealer she’d stolen the pages from.

He shrugged a bit and turned to bend the drivers seat back a little bit, resting his head back and shutting his eyes. “You need some rest.” He said in a low voice. She knew better than to argue with Frank. She stood to her feet and walked back to the bed, lying her head on top of the pillow.

Karen noticed after she rest her head down on the pillow that there was a small stuffed frog sitting behind a lamp on the table. She furrowed her brow and sat up to look towards the front of trailer. “Frank, why do you have this?” She called out to him.

“Have what?”

“There’s a stuffed frog on the table, why do you even have this?” She asked again.

Frank was silent for a moment before he spoke, his voice quieter and softer than normal. “Lisa always wanted to keep the frogs she found, I always said no.”

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Frank is always so self aware that I can’t imagine he would ever be caught staring unless he wanted her to catch him :P.

So I guess I’m gonna have to say Karen. And when she gets caught she blushes, but not in the way she blushes when frank smiles at her or teases her (you know that little bit of pink high on her cheeks and the tops of her ears) but rather a deep hot tomato red blush that she can feel spreading over her entire body. And perhaps the first time this happens it’s before they’ve crossed the line into “more than investigative partners” and it prompts Frank reach out and draw her to him because he can’t help but need to feel the heat of that blush against his fingertips.
