It’s been 15 years, but Spice and Wolf is still popular all over the world, which is a good thing because it means we get treated to lovely figures of best wolf girl Holo, like this one that captures her in a hakama! Produced by BellFine and sculpted by Riku Kurokawa at 9.4” tall, the figure is based on original artwork created for the "MAGNET by SHIBUYA109" event and captures Holo the Wise Wolf in a cheerful frollicking pose wearing a traditional hakama and holding a Japanese umbrella over her shoulder. Her charming new look has been faithfully sculpted down to the tiniest details, including the pleats in her skirt and its gentle sway, the wheat pattern on her kimono, the small drawstring purse in her hand, the beautiful flowing look of her long chestnut hair and bushy tail, and, of course, her lovely smile. She stands on a base designed to resemble a brick street, giving the feeling that she’s enjoying an outing in the city with Lawrence. Don’t miss out on adding her to your collection!

Sakura Amamiya is one of the most recent heroines to join the series, and this figure demonstrates both her gallant personality and her beauty! Measuring 9.1" tall, this piece was inspired by official game art. Sakura is running forward, and her dynamic movement is emphasized by the way the fabric of her pants folds and the swaying of her sleeves! Gorgeous paintwork and shading is utilized to bring out the cherry blossom pattern of her blue and pink robe. These skillful production techniques also add dimension to her hair. From her facial expression, you can feel Sakura's resolve as she unsheathes her blade, Amamiya Kunisada. Don't miss your chance to own this fantastic bishoujo figure!

Asian Clothing: Japanese Kimono
Kimono Type: Furisode: Jogakusei
Accuracy Rating: 4.5/5
Explanation: Stunning pose! Excellent color scheme; very modern and crisp! The boots are long in a delicious chocolate color. The hakama are a very pretty deep pink color, which complements the pink and sky blue furisode gorgeously. Not a big fan of the sakura brooch on her chest and the sakura flower tied to the back of her hakama.
From Good Smile Company and sculpted by Keita Tagami comes this Nendoroid of Sakura Amamiya from Sakura Wars. This adorable chibi recreation of her measures 3.9”, is articulated, and includes accessories to display her with! She comes with three face plates (standard smile, skeptical glare, and blushing), her Imperial Sword (in both sheathed and unsheathed forms), a broom, a dialogue text plate based on the game, and an additional lower half part to display her stepping forward to swing her sword. Highlights include the glossy appearance of her boots, the way her hair is sculpted to look as if it is moving with the wind, and her clearly printed bright blue eyes. Asian Clothing: Japanese Kimono
Kimono Type: Furisode: Jogakusei-sugata
Accuracy Rating: 5/5
Explanation: Perfection! So modern and stylish, while integrating classic motifs and celebratory colors! The hakama are a beautiful ombre of wine red at her waist to a brighter orange-red tone at the hem. The jumping golden flakes/ squares are a gorgeous detail that give a happy sense of motion. The golden yellow is reflected in the yellow and pink colors of her yagasuri (arrow) patterned ofurisode. The arrow pattern has long been an auspicious pattern for young women to wear and I love how sleek and modern it looks in this outfit. Her deep red nagajuban brings the hakama’s color up to her face and emphasis her pale skin and blond hair, also accented with a red bunny-eared bow. The pale blue of her hair flowers is also reflected in her obidome (featuring a traditional uroko, or scales, pattern) and the straps of her greenish gold zori. A stunning figure perfect to shine on her graduation day!
The heiress of the Yomogawa family and commander of the Aragane Station, Ayame is captured in a dynamic pose aiming her steam-powered bow which she uses quite proficiently. Sculpted by Monolith under complete supervision by the show’s character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto, she stands 9.8” tall, ready to defend your shelf against the kabaneri!

Asian Clothing: Fantasy Kimono & Steampunk Fusion
Kimono Type: Furisode: Jogakusei-sugata
Accuracy Rating: 3/5
Explanation: I love how very creative and practical this ensemble is for its universe, but it has a few notable inaccuracies for historical purposes. It absolutely nails the boots and the hakama; the wearing of an underbust corset over her hakama, however, is similar to other models where a full obi is worn over the hakama. It’s unnecessary as they’re already wearing an obi under the hakama in order to put them on. I also take issue with that huge fluffy bow tied in front. Her top actually bothers me less than the hakama. It wasn’t uncommon for young men in the Taisho/Showa periods to wear western-style button-down shirts as nagajuban under their kimono; she’s applying the same principal with a much frillier Victorian-ish blouse. What actually bothers me about her furisode is the frilled, color-contrasting collar. Just ugly in my opinion.
Blossoms all around. Will they bloom beautifully,or will they wither. From the Holy Grail War that was featured in Koha-Ace EX comes a rerelease of the 1/8th scale figure of the mysterious yet beautiful saber class servant - Sakura Saber! The hakama she is wearing has been sculpted in careful detail, and makes use of a beautiful gradient of pinks and reds, showing just why she is known as Sakura Saber. She holds her beloved sword drawn, posed slicing through the air in a dynamic pose that fans are sure to enjoy by their side!

Asian Clothing: Japanese Kimono
Kimono Type: Furisode: Jogakusei-sugata
Accuracy Rating: 5/5
Explanation: Classic perfection! A+! Hakama are a gorgeous color, tied off correctly, and features a lovely decorative embroidery at the waist. Her kofurisode is also historically accurate, as they’re much more practical for actually going to school than the ofurisode worn with modern outfits for graduation ceremonies. The deep red hiyoku (false undercollar sewn inside the kimono collar) lends to the idea of wealth and formality. Even the half-up hairstyle is reminiscent of the hairstyle originally worn with this look during the Meiji period. Her ankle high brown boots are also spot on! Very lovely!
