It can't be an accident that Paul's birth is the chapter right after John 1:20. The original blueprint for lyctorhood, and then the first true alternative to lyctorhood ever carried out. The greatest act of taking and consumption vs the ultimate act of mutual self-giving. The prince of death vs the love perfected by death.

I've been banging on that drum before but I just KNOW John and Paul are supposed to be parallels and foils. I won't pretend to know how exactly, but God how I want to find out.

I am deeply confused about what the truth is for everything John did. If I take his story at face value, it doesn’t really match up with what I have previously been told. It accounts for the resurrection beasts and how he became god and also the creation of Alecto (I think??). But it didn’t account for the relationship between Cavalier and Necromancer. Didn’t the other lyctors need to be necromancers to ascend? And hey they just died in this story. That can’t be the truth if they are all dead. I guess I still have another 60 pages of the book but I’m genuinely so confused after John 1:20
