I watched 16 Candles, and it was um,
Rapey?
Like, its supposed to be casually awkward and classic teenage hijinks, and aside from the obvious issues of its time like usage of slurs and misogyny, I'm actually a bit appalled that I haven't heard anything negative about it? Like ever? The exact opposite actually, up until this point its been purely high praise, which like I said is, well, uhhh. . . yeah. . . shocking
it was rapey enough that I don't think I'll watch it again voluntarily

I was just stumbling upon YouTube when I came across a video that was talking about scenes and why they chose what they did in this John Hughes film, 16 Candles with Molly Ringwald. And then I noticed something that my 19-year-old daughter pointed out to me in another movie, called the Kissing Booth on Netflix. I am really dumb or something. Typical Gen X born in 1977 me. Didn’t realize that the lower lip biting thing that guys do in movies was a sign that they liked the girl a lot, and the second time I’ve seen this already was in the movie 16 Candles with Jake Ryan. And the only other time, which was pointed out to me by my 19-year-old daughter, was in the Kissing Booth with the actor in that movie who is a Noah Flynncutie.
rewatched the breakfast club and realized the characters are the emotions in my head inside out style
