something that always gets me is that john kennish (despite all of his flaws) CRADLES his children’s faces when he’s having an emotional heart-to-heart moment with them. not just for bay, but for toby too! he even calls his son sweetie. and, even though kathryn/john have made comments or wished at times that their children were more preppy or sporty, they clearly raised them with the idea that they could be whatever they wanted to be. they funded all of bay’s art supplies and toby’s music equipment. they had a hard time showing it, but the core four kennish family was tighter than what it seemed.
