John McFadden to Elizabeth Hamilton, Albany, [March 7, 1816]
Madam—
I am desirous of purchasing Lot No. 25 in the Town of Sterling, and County of Cayuga, which I am informed belongs to you. I live in that town, when at home, and now am at Albany—attending the Legislature. I hope you will do me the favour of writing me a line, and send it to Albany by mail. Before the Session Breaks up stating the Price, and Terms of Payment, and Permit me to Inform you that there is 150 acres of Swamp in the North East Corner of the lot. I surveyed the adjoining lot and ascertained that fact. If your Price and terms will Answer my Purchase I will come to New York when the River opens, and make a contract for it. I hope you will do me the favor of writing me a line as soon as this comes to hand, and Pardon the Liberty I have taken in writing to you as I did not know who your agent was. I am with lene(?)
