How would you rank the Warner Bros. composers, and why?
On a scale of 1 to 10.
Carl Stalling’s and Milt Franklyn - 10
I don’t even have to say it. Carl was the one who truly capture the musical score and styling of LT.
Bernard Brown and Norman Spencer - 9
They’re great too. There were some of the first composers for the WB cartoons, they pretty much have their own style of scoring compared to Stalling’s, but that’s okay.
Walter Greene - 8
Loved his scores the most second to Stalling’s IMHO. The most catchy and most immersing scores, again IMO.
Bill Lava - 7
Quite neutral. His scores sound much better in the Pink Panther cartoons than in the latter-day WB shorts.
John Seely - 4
His scores are very unusual sounding for a WB cartoon. Fit perfectly for much of the 60s Hanna-Barbera TV shorts.
