A little bit about Diana & Me (starring Simm, 1997) during Graham Norton's radio interview for Mad Dogs ft Glenister (broadcast in 2012)

Question: Please ask Phil if he's ever been to Australia, wanted to know for years.

Glenister: Mmm, I feel Mad Dogs 5 coming on. Sydney. No, I haven't, actually, I've never been to Australia. I'd love to go, I hear only great things about Australia, so I would like to go.

Simm: It's nice.

Glenister: Have you been?

Simm: I've been once, yeah, in the mid-90s, I went to Sydney.

Glenister: Did you?

Simm: Mmm, nice. Very nice.

Glenister: What, work or pleasure?

Simm: Work, darling, work. I was filming a terrible film, it never got released, called Diana & Me.

Norton: Oh, I interviewed someone who was in that.

Simm: Toni Collette was in it.

Norton: Yes, yes!

Glenister: About you and Diana Rigg?

Simm: Yes! No, no, no, no. It was a long time ago.

Norton: Remember Diana?

Simm: It's Diana, Princess.

Norton: She won a competition to come to London to see her or something.

Simm: Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was the same people that did Muriel's Wedding. Me and Dominic West were paparazzi and, you know, on paper we thought, this is going to be great, but we had a great time. I don't think it was released. I might have missed it. I think events might have overtaken it.

Norton: Yes, I think something happened. Moving quickly on!

(After break - "Life on Mars?" got played 😏)

Norton: Good news! Good news has arrived via email. You might be owed money, John.

Simm: Me?

Glenister: What about me?

Norton: No, not you. Diana & Me was released and grossed 205k AUD at the box office in Australia.

Simm: Wow.

Norton: Yeah, so get onto that.

Glenister: You turn them into euros and they're worthless.

Simm: I think I got paid, I can't remember. It was a long time ago. But me and Dominic had a fantastic time. That's all I remember about it.

Norton: See, Australia - good.

Glenister: Can we find out if I'm owed any money?

Norton: Okay, I'll put that out there. We probably will get an email.

Glenister: I'm sure I've done some rubbish in my time.

John: He (Baxter) is very like me with a goatee [laughter.] It’s my first goatee since State of Play. It seemed like a very good idea at the time. Like the Master’s white hair.  You get these great ideas and then you think - shit.

Two seasons later...

John: Yes, I used to moan about my goatee all the time but I used to hide behind it. I didn't realise that until I saw in the script that I had to shave it off and I thought, 'I know I used to moan about it, but do I really have to lose it, are we sure about this?" They wanted me to lose my glasses as well but I said, 'I've got to keep the glasses'. So I kept the glasses, but it's a running thing that he keeps getting them smashed.
