BRITT'S BOOKS '22
Book 13) The Execution of Sherlock Holmes: And Other New Adventures of the Great Detective (Lost Sherlock #3) by Donald Thomas, read by John Telfer
pages: I had an audiobook of 11 hours and 45 minutes
Started: March 29, 2022
Finished: April 11, 2022
Thoughts: I really liked this book/these stories! I admit I was a little lost on the 3rd? mystery about the young maid being fired in Brighton mostly because I forgot why they were going to see a "Psychic" act in performance and what it had to do with the girl haha
But the Newgate Prison story aka the namesake of this collection was intriguing and I wish I could actually see it played out in front of me because the layout of the prison though well-described was almost hard to picture with the way that Sherlock had planned his escape.
Here are some comments I made along the way through all the mysteries (semi-spoiler free):
Loving this shit. Brothers of wronged villains out for revenge. Fanfiction indeed but actually clever fanfiction despite the cringe of Milverton and Moriarty's brothers being buddies now lol
I'm intrigued considering cyphers etc
Y'all think you're clever but Sherlock Holmes is more clever. Easy to figure out yo scheme lol
I'm disappointed we never learned [SPOILER]. Bull. I'mma write to the writer haha
I liked that the last mystery tied in with "The Execution" story and that there were parallels to The Final Problem in a number of ways!
Anyways I enjoyed these and this author has enjoyable stories. My only complaint is that he (at least in these stories I don't remember in the other ones I've done in the past) is that Watson is told by Holmes "Don't do this thing" and then he seems to forget that thing and does it. Or, Holmes will say very little about his plans and then in the end Watson is frustrated by Holmes or surprised by the events that go down. Dunno how I feel about that coz most times as a reader I'm face-palming at these things.
As before, I LOVE John Telfer's narration of Holmes and Watson both in particular <3
