To have life and have it to the full
A lot of people think that living life to the full is being able to do what you want, living without being obliged to follow a set of rules. But to say this, for me, is an understatement; living life to the full should be more meaningful than that.
Living life to the full should be about being able to enjoy life without feeling guilty afterwards. Without being paranoid about the outcome of a certain act.
It’s easy to think that we are being limited when we are presented with a list of things we should not do. It’s easy to feel like we are being held back, I know, I’ve felt that way too. But as I look back at who I was and look at how I’ve changed, I realize that a lot of things are restricted from us not because we are being held back, but because we are being prevented from things that could hurt us. from things that we may regret.
Receiving instructions on what to do on a project is better than working independently then later on find out that all the things you worked on does not amount to anything. God didn’t tell us what we shouldn’t do to hold back our happiness, but because He simply wants to guide us, to lead us to the future that He prepared for us.
Living life to the full is more than being able to satisfy your own desires but to be able to contribute to the people around you; To affect other people’s lives and bring about change, help them have a better perspective and, most importantly, give them hope.
Life would be a lot easier if I lived for no one but myself. I wouldn’t care if I hurt anyone, I wouldn’t need to share any of my stuff, I wouldn’t have to “do my part” because my only part is to live on my own. It seems easy, but what a miserable life would that be. The things we miss to do for other people are also the things we fail to experience.
Jesus lived and He lived to the full. Now, He wants us to experience that as well.
He obeyed God [the Father] by being the sacrifice for us on the cross, so that we may receive life and forgiveness. He obeyed though He knew what was going to happen to Him, though He knew the pain He was going to feel and the suffering He’d have to endure. If there’s anyone who should feel that he’s being held back from life, then I think Jesus deserves to feel that way more than we do. But out of His obedience, glory was revealed. Out of His obedience sprung the hope of everybody. Out of His obedience, God is glorified.
We must learn to trust in His timing and in His ways, though it may seem confusing and not all that fun for us. Learn to place our hope in Him and rest in His peace as we face trials. Learn to let Him mold us and shape us into the best person we can ever be in this life. To live to the full is to be able to be who God created you to be.
