"Time to slay some vampires padre" John Carpenter's Vampires 1998 The master of horror returns brings his unique taste to the vampire legend, starring James Woods as veteran vampire slayer Jack Crow who comes face to face with the known "First" Valak a vampire master who is in search of an ancient artifact that will grant him the power to walk in daylight. Although regarded as a mixed bag towards the fans and an unfortunate box office failure, I personally loved this film, yes you can see that Carpenter's time had long gone, but the film was and still is a fun ride from beginning to end. Woods is basically playing himself mostly, but you can tell that he's enjoying the time on set, which can be said for the rest of the cast, fun comedic dialogue and alot of OTT swearing, John Carpenter's Vampires brings suspense, humour in all the right ways for me as a horror fan, it was great watching the film again as it brings fond memories of laughing and being quite spooked. Not certainly Carpenter's best, but still is a fun watch and easily one of the better contemporary modern vampire films in my opinion.
