Imagine Sherlock excited to celebrate the anniversary of the day they met. He goes out and buys milk (their own little token of affection), chocolates, and a bottle of wine. It has occurred to him by now that maybe John won't remember. Why would he? It's not their first-date anniversary or anything like that. Just bc it holds significant value to him as the day his whole world was filled in with color, doesn't mean that it's also significant for John. And Sherlock supposes that's fine, bc at least he can spend the January 29th with the love of his life.
He opens the door to their flat, goodies in one arm, and anticipation beating in his heart. In the sitting room, John is arranging the bouquet of roses he has bought and turns to his husband with a lovestruck smile
"Didnt think I'd forget, did you?"
