Farewell to the mighty Johnny Powers (né John Leon Joseph Pavlik, 25 May 1938 – 16 January 2023). His savage 1957 single “Long Blond Hair” is an essential rockabilly touchstone and still sounds stark and ferocious, like a switchblade fight is about to erupt. It also didn’t hurt that greaser punk Powers looked like the perfect juvenile delinquent!
