Johnny Rivers - Positively 4th Street (1968)

In the mid to late 60s, it seemed like everyone had to record a Dylan cover. Most are ok, but some were actually good. Johnny Rivers' rendition of Positively 4th Street removes some of the bitterness of the original, but it's still a very appealing version with a nice buildup. Supposedly even Dylan liked it.

Heard “Secret Agent Man” right before we reached our destination Monday of last week, and my brain immediately went, “Oh, that would be a fun fic!”

Oh, no, you let the wrong word slip While kissing persuasive lips The odds are you won’t live to see tomorrow

(I was this many days old when I learned the lyric was not “you let the robbers slip” 😳 That makes for a more fun image, the bad guys getting away because Yelena couldn’t stop kissing Kate up against the wall… 🤣 Oh well!)
