Quote in the second image is adapted from Vikings: Valhalla.
Jerry, the human who owns the town butcher shop, makes his Villager assistant feed Johnny. He knows the task scares her but he has no respect for Villagers and views them as weak and pathetic.
Johnny does not harm her as he knows full well the agonizing punishment that would ensue, and he also wants the food. Kayla will often give him extra strictly out of the desire to survive, hoping she can endear herself to the monster so he won't lash out. She doesn't say a single word to him and he never speaks.
But her small acts of kindness, even a kindness born out of self preservation, has indeed endeared her and even if Johnny wasn't a captive and there wasn't a single chain he wouldn't harm Kayla.
For it isn't her face he day dreams about when he uses a cleaver or bone saw.
It is Jerry's.
Bloodcraft: Johnny
A Vindicator who was captured after a miserably unsuccessful Raid. He's been serving as the butcher's unwilling assistant for over a decade, waiting for the shop and the guards keeping tabs on him to slip up. The shop's owner doesn't always let him eat and there are times where he is forced to go days without anything, including water.
The chains have been on him for this entire time, and the metal waist and neck rings have left nasty marks. During the day for up to 16 hours Johnny is forced to stand and clean the shop, back areas, and prepare meat for customers. At night he has to sleep while the chains are attached to the wall of a shed, barely allowing him to lay down.
Illagers assume him to be one of the failed Raid's casualties, as no illager except for him survived and he was found barely conscious under a dead body by town guards. He feels abandoned by the world and it leads him into spirals of depression.
But what keeps him going is the hope of one day escaping and taking revenge on the town. His time is occupied by fantasies of slaughter and eating those who wronged him. Starting with the shop's owner.
Jerry is well liked in his community but it's mostly from other humans. Some Piglins are fine with him and Villagers have negative opinions; and they keep those amongst themselves.
Most see nothing wrong with keeping an illager as a slave, and Johnny is usually mocked by the locals. Sometimes groups of Piglins and humans get together and drag him out to humiliate or beat him up.
Johnny never speaks one word and rarely cries out unless the pain is unbearable even for him. Humans and Piglins have a lot of generational beef with illagers, having feared and fought them for so long. So now that they have one at their non existent mercy, they unleash all of their hatred.
But Johnny takes the abuse, day after day, his own hatred for non illagers only intensifying. And his resolve to escape and get revenge is unshakeable. He will make every single of the people who do this to him, pay oh so dearly.
Johnny the Vindicator also plans on taking a nap in the sun and rolling around in grass and flowers and being able to see the sky again that isn't just a glimpse through a window. To finally have the metal collars and chains OFF of his body and to be free to roam and live again. He craves all of that as much as he craves vengeance. To sleep on an actual bed instead of a thin rotting mattress pad. To be able to be with other illagers again, see their faces and smell their scents and hear their voices.
