It's dumb as hell, but I kinda understand their reasoning to an extent. The building that I'm living in has all of the utilities included in the rent, so the only thing I have to pay for on my own is the internet. Since electric bills spike in the summer, they have a $120 per summer fee for the use of a window AC. The trouble is though that I moved in in the beginning of August, and the fee is the exact same as if I had paid them back in May or June.

That's what I find to be dumb; other buildings I looked at while I was apartment hunting told me I would either have to pay a smaller prorated fee, or not even have to pay for AC this summer at all. I ended up going with this building though due to its price and location. You can't win them all, I suppose.
