Reach Out And Touch Me | Alexis & Sam
The moment Alexis stepped out of the subway and onto the street, she felt a sense of joy. She was home; Brooklyn. Of course, she loved all of New York City, but this was where she was born and raised. The young woman knew Brooklyn like the back of her hand. Manhattan, where she currently lived, was bigger and had way more places to visit due to the tourists.
Brooklyn was busy too and had a lot of attractions as well, but not in her old neighborhood. Alexis walked down the street, clad in casual clothing for the summer heat and unbearable humidity. Her sunglasses hid her face well enough for her to be unnoticed as the young woman finally made it to the block she grew up on. Everything about the place was still the same - same families who knew each other, same townhouses with the same beautiful trees that lined the road.
Finally reaching her parents' house, Alexis walked right in and took off her sunglasses. "Mom! Dad! I'm here!" she called out cheerfully, leaving her purse and overnight bag on the couch. As she walked in further, the young woman saw her father and Sam sitting at the dinning room table.
"Well, well," Alexis grinned at Sam, "what a shock to see you here." She was teasing, of course and gave the man a wink to emphasize it. Her father stood up and hugged her as her mother came out of the kitchen to do the same; both excited to see their only child.
