The Randel Farm map created by John Randel Jr. is the first map that plotted the 1811 "Commissioner's Plan" which established the Manhattan street grid—from Houston St. to 155th Street—and also encompasses the rest of the island, from The Battery to Inwood. It consists of 92 hand-drawn and hand-colored panels, created over the span of 2 years.
Last weekend was the first time ever that it was displayed, in full.
It’s also available digitally (requires Flash).
