Hey sorry if this is personal but you obviously are hella smart and got straight A's at a private university (ur amazing), so I was wondering how much you party/drink in college on average and how you balanced that in college with school work? I'm going to be a freshman next year and I'm worried I won't be able to balance social life and school :(
Hello:) Thank you, you’re sweet! If you want Real Talk™, honestly parties were only a thing my roommates and I did when it was warm outside bc you shouldn’t bring a jacket to a party/club bc you’ll have to hold it/wear it and it’s always hot af so it just got too cold in Boston for us to go to parties anymore lol so now we just hang out with our friends and do other stuff. I’m also not very much of a partier, so I probably only went out about once or twice a month. Also, parties only seem to be on fridays so it’s nice bc saturdays were always pretty lowkey and meant I could get up at a reasonable hour on sunday to do HW. And I spent most of sundays in a library.
I definitely did sacrifice social time to study but I never felt like I was missing out on anything? Like I really never did homework on fridays and saturdays unless i had a huge assignment or test coming up so I got my social fill then, but academics are really important to me so the opportunity cost was always worth it tbh. it’s honestly a mindset.
the truest thing about college that people say is that you’ll go an entire week without HW and then the next you’ll be in the library for most of the week. You’ve just gotta make sure you take advantage of the time where you don’t have a lot of work to hang out with people and go to parties (if you want) and don’t let your schoolwork pile up (obvs) so you aren’t so polarized and you get a decent balance of school-social life
At least from what I’ve noticed, this problem is something most people seem to figure out in their first semester, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it! it’s obviously going to be harder in the beginning, but don’t let that discourage you. gl at college next year!! hope i helped!! :)
