Beginner’s guide to collecting stardust rings
How to smash that mf monthly unit
(For @sugimoto-reimi or anyone who could use the tips, really)
Stardust rings are another form of currency in Stardust Shooters, like diamonds. Unlike diamonds, they have less applications and are harder to obtain in most cases. They can be traded at the stardust ring exchange for items, frogs, and more importantly, a rare unit. The unit up for exchange changes every month, or... sometimes two months... (idk what to tell you) and costs 100 stardust rings.
If you go all the way to the bottom of the gasha tab, it’ll show you this month’s unit, as well as how many stardust rings you have. (That’s the number in the middle.) Clicking the button will take you to the stardust ring exchange. Here you can see that this month’s unit is Reimi Sugimoto, and I have 40 rings.
There are three main methods of obtaining stardust rings:
Unlocking drop chests from missions
Increasing your units’ level caps
Buying them with event points
Since events aren’t going on all the time (there isn’t one right now) and not all of them even give you the option of buying stardust rings, I’ll ignore that method for now.
Method 1: Unlocking drop chests from missions
All missions have little chests that can be unlocked by collecting the right drops in the mission.
Usually, these contain stardust rings. The biggest exception is the Diamond is Unbreakable missions, which contain Kameyu coupons. (The Kameyu coupons are actually really great if you need items and whatnot, but I’m talking about stardust rings, so they’re not important right now.)
To unlock the chest, you have to play the mission, and collect the right unit drop. (Those are the units you get at the end of the mission after you beat them up.) Which one you need is a mystery, and as far as I know it’s kind of random whether or not an enemy unit will turn into a drop, so it’s kind of hit or miss. You’ll know if you get the right one because the question mark in the corner will be replaced with whatever the unit is.
Also, this particular example only requires one drop. For mission sets with multiple levels, you’ll need to collect the right drop from every mission in the set. For this reason, as well as the unpredictability of the drops and the fact that it only gives you one ring, this method of collecting stardust rings isn’t very efficient.
Method 2: Increasing level cap
When you level up your units by feeding them frogs (or, if you’re like me, whichever characters you have a grudge against), they’ll eventually reach level cap. However, you can increase the level cap, up to 4 times for a maximum of level 100. There’s a separate menu for increasing level cap in the units tab, third from the top.
You can only increase the level cap of units who have already reached their current max level. Doing so requires items you can get through various means (drops, buying with event points/Kameyu coupons/etc.) I won’t get into detail with those and other aspects of leveling up because that’s a whole separate dealio.
Choose a unit, and if you have the required items, you can press the button to increase the level cap. It’ll give you a basic rundown of their increased stats before having you confirm.
Once you’ve increased a unit’s level cap, it’ll give you some stardust rings, and also give you the option to go directly to the stardust ring exchange. The amount of rings you get depends on the level and rarity of a unit, so for example increasing an SSR unit from level 80 to 100 will give you a lot more rings than increasing a R unit from 15 to 30.
This is the easiest way to obtain stardust rings. If you want to get lots of rings as quickly as possible, the best thing to do is to get as many units to cap as you can quickly. Frogs are pretty easy to come by, so if you get a bunch of units up to level 15, you can get a fair amount of rings in a relatively short amount of time.
The one thing you have to watch out for is running out of items. The easiest way to get those when an event isn’t running is to buy them from Kameyu. You can get Kameyu coupons pretty easily; In addition to being drop rewards, if you look in the background of each location in Morioh, there’ll be a little sparkle hidden somewhere. Click it, and Harvest will collect a Kameyu coupon. These hidden coupons reset like, every... I dunno, every week or so, maybe. All I know is sometimes they reset, so check every now and then.
Now that I think about it, I left my phone at Liza’s house last Monday and it’s the 27th now which means the Kira event is almost over, so I almost certainly won’t be able to get Kousaku!Kira. Dammit
I just got a friend request from someone on Stardust Shooters with the username “God”
Lisa Lisa quest: (Appears)
Me, sobbing: I love you mom
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I GOT A NEW SSR JOSEPH I’VE BEEN WANTING FOR A WHILE
I love how every time I look at the Stardust Shooters Reddit it’s all people asking for critique on their ultra powerful teams featuring the units with the best abilities all built around strategy and equipping ability slots and blah blah blah
Meanwhile whenever I play the game it’s just “I put the hottest Josephs on a team I love them”
OK HOLY SHIT so Reimi’s skill is, rather disappointingly, not the Hell Hands, but it’s called “I’ll always be here” and it turns the stage into the alley behind Owson’s and then instead of bouncing off the walls of the stage, units actually loop around to the other side! Which is pretty disorienting tbh but cool
