5) The musical I would put on would be Little Women, and the only thing I would change about it has to do with casting. I would cast a non-traditional cast, putting woc in the roles. I’ve always thought it would be interesting to see a diverse cast in such a well loved time piece. It’s also my personal life long dream to play one of the March sisters, lol. I’ve done the play before, but as a black girl, I could only be cast as Hannah, the maid. But I would love to play Jo or Meg one day, so if it were ever up to me, casting would be completely non-traditional. How amazing would it be to see women of different races playing sisters in a classic like Little Women?
10) Come to Your Senses from Tick, Tick...Boom! It gets me every time and has so much power behind it. I love the original cast version, but I also love Cierra Renee and Karen Olivo’s renditions too!
15) Oh god, I wouldn’t know what to say if I were meeting my bway fave. I have several, so I imagine it will differ depending on who it is. Lin Manuel Miranda is my biggest inspiration, so if I met him I would tell him how much his work means to me and how Hamilton is the show that reignited my love for musical theatre, helped me grow confident in my own skills and inspired me to pursue musical theatre as a career instead of becoming just a writer.
20) That’s hard because I don’t think about that very often. I think it would be incredibly interesting if the Disney movie Brave was turned into a musical. I love it so much, and I think many girls could really look up to Merida.
25) Definitely more excited for Frozen. Although I really love Spongebob, I just could never take a Broadway show for it seriously, lol.
30) I do read fan fic (write it too), but I have never read musical theatre fan fic. But if anyone has any recommendations, I’ll be sure to check them out!
35) Oooh, that’s hard. I’d say my favorites are the “I Want” numbers, the full company showstoppers, patter songs, counterpoint duets, and dark reprises. Dark reprises are especially my number one, I live for them.
