Name: Jomel Kevin Alvarez Date Met: October 2013 Place Met: Function Room College Building, University of Perpetual Help System Goodtime Jomel Jatik. That's his username on facebook and at times the name people call him. I do notice this guy in school at times. I believe the time I actually recognized him was during our recollection (imagine, Junior students having recollection. That's a first in our department!). He called himself "Pinong" or something I forgot hahah. Anyway, I never thought that I would be classmates with an irregular student and well, it happened anyway. Christian introduced him to us jokingly before that went like this: "P.R , magiging classmate na natin etong tropa ko na si Jomel. Yan, nangungulit na bigyan mo ng sagot sa mga quiz, pero pag siya ang hinihingan, di tumutulong hahaha!". My first impression with Jomel here is that he isn't serious with his studies (I assumed it that was because he is from an irregular class and looks kinda... well, should've graduated already. Don't kill me please!). But of course, I was wrong since he turned out to be really good in class. Okay so let's start. The only time I found out that Jomel is really nice guy and a shrewd one was during out Finance class. I don't know if that was literally his English accent or he was just drunk that day. He sounded so good. So good that I felt so threatened with his accent (I mean, accent is one thing I have an edge on, but his was just *dies*). But like, I don't mind anyway since we are on a different league. He uses something like British accent while I use a mix of accents. Anyway, from that day up until now, I changed my perspective on this guy. I mean, I wasn't expecting shit like that. Another instance on how "gifted" this guy is, was during the quizbee. I was the one who was facilitating the quizbee team for our department during the University Week, since seeing the team is not doing well, I was facepalming my face a lot. Jomel went beside us and when the questions appeared, his answers (most of them like, 90%) are right! I don't know what kind of sorcery does Jomel has, but he has to be on the quizbee team this year! Conflicts... I really don't know. Wait, well, I think there is one but this is rather complicated. I was indirectly involved. Let's see if I can recall it right. It was during our favourite class: Finance. He was the leader of a group that time. So... he started explaining the lesson. Ah, a little segue here. During classes like these, our seating arrangement was in alphabetical order so I'm seated by our President and the classroom's smartest girl. We usually team up on discussions like these. Anyway, back to the story. When me and Krisha (the girl) was discussing about what he's talking about, we noticed that something was off on what he had said. So after a few deliberation we decided to raise a question. Krisha asked the question and then she and Jomel had this intelligent argument. With that argument, the class got cut and we discussed it the next meeeting. After reviewing the situation, Jomel did apologize that he was wrong at some point and he wasn't able to explain deeper which started our doubts with his discussion. Okay so that ends there hahaha! My best moment with this person is rather different too. I wouldn't call it a hoax or something, it's like... something less than that but something like that, get it? Here it goes. It was during our last few days for the second semester and semestral break is approaching. Out of nowhere, he posted in our class' group page saying that he will not continue his studies anymore. Knowing this guy, it was probably a joke. But after talking to him and such, I finally believed him. As far as I remember, he will stop studying because he passed this employment test or something for a ship / cruiseline (forgot which). Being a classmate of someone who is different from the rest, most of our classmates were kind of sad that he will be leaving us. Just when we were enjoying his company in our class, he does this to us. But who are we to coerce him to not pursue this? Days have passed and it was enrollment for the first semester. Out of nowhere, we saw him enrolling. I mean, what the hell? That dweeb pulled a fast one on us. We weren't really that upset but actually happy that he still continued his studies. I mean, I need this guy for the quizbee! Hahaha, so there you have it; he's not stopping his studies. Presently speaking, we are in good terms (like with other classmates and other students too). But lately, we haven't seen each other much due to our schedule (which is only Friday) and our hotel internship. When we have classes, we do greet each other, but only up to that. Other than talking to him about the upcoming University Week, we don't do much talking. So the latest information I have about this guy is that they got a 90% average on their thesis! I'm like "WHAT THE FUCK" are you serious? Honestly speaking, I wasn't actually expecting that grade from them. But anyway, kudos to you guys and you just passed one of the shitties obstacle for graduation! Additional facts about this guy: there are time that he and Christian mess with each other. I mean, they usually make a joke out of each other. Like for instance, Jomel calls Christian "ipis" while the latter made a jpeg about him battling cancer or something like that. He also started to trend words like "sintido kumon". Actually, it's really funny if you get to see it in person, because with all the facial expression and pronunciation hahaha! Based on my experiences with this guy, I would say that he's a good guy. I mean, a class clown and at the same time a smart person. You barely see that kind of person in class! I can't be really like, good friends with him because we have different interests, we differ in age and a lot more reasons. I would say befriend this guy if you want a comic relief in your life!
