A little WIP Wednesday action 🐫
A few days ago, I got the sweetest, most uplifting comment on The Last Time, and it really lit a fire under me to get chapter 21 finished up. For those who love some family drama, this chapter is definitely for you. Please enjoy the sneak peek. I’ll be back with an update soon. 💗🐺

“So this is what you do now? Sit in the shadows, waiting like a coward?”
They’re strong words but Arya doesn’t regret them. She’s always preferred offense to defense, and if there’s anyone who knows that about her, it’s the man currently sitting at the kitchen table, gaze heavy even in the dark.
“We both know you wouldn’t have let me in if I tried any other way.”
He looks exactly the same. The same firm stance, the same dark eyes, same unruly curls, if a touch wilder.
And yet when he speaks, it feels very much like she’s talking to a stranger and it reignites her ire.
“You seem to think you know me, which is ironic, since apparently I don’t know you at all.”
It’s another blow but Jon takes it in stride, getting up from the kitchen chair slowly and not approaching her yet.
Arya puts space between them anyway, turning to the cupboard to retrieve a water glass but even without seeing Jon’s face, she can feel his heavy sigh behind her.
“This isn’t how I wanted you to find out.”
And she knows she should be more sympathetic, because in just one sentence, he’s managed to convey the toll all of this is taken on him, but Arya is not there and she knows she won’t be for the foreseeable future.
So all that’s left is her tried and true tactics. The strike she is so capable of delivering time and again.
