Trump Pardons Conviction of Jon Ponder, Who Founded Prison Re-Entry Program, in GOP Convention Appearance

President Donald Trump on the second night of the Republican National Convention pardoned the conviction of Jon Ponder, a former prisoner who founded a prisoner re-entry program.

“Jon’s life is a beautiful testament to the power of redemption,” Trump announced in a video as he granted Ponder a full pardon, which covers the removal of a federal bank robbery charge from Ponder’s record.

Okay, IIRC, Trump gave a pardon to Jon Ponder earlier today.  Other than that, though, I’ve never heard of this man, so this is all new to me.

Apparently Jon Ponder is a former bank robber, converted to Christianity, and has been working in prison reform and reenntry programs since.  And is now friends with the FBI guy who arrested him.  Hahaha! :)

Hope for Prisoners, if you want to know where to direct donations.  And apparently works in conjunction with local LEOs, too.  Cool.

This really is a genuinely cool program that they are spotlighting here.  I had no idea about any of this.

Ooh, he sprung the pardon on him on the video!  What a great moment.
