Part 13
MY JONGKEY PLAYLIST: “Suit up” Pt.2/2
“AAAHAHAHAHA!” The doors of the elevator ding open and I’m sure Kibum’s loud laugh has woken up all the neighbors as its high pitch echoed down the halls.
“Ya! It’s not funny! It really hurt! I think she left a permanent scar.” I feel around my head for the small ‘scar,’ but end up giving into his dimpled smile again. I’m pretty sure I’m wearing the dumbest grin on my face, but I can’t help it…his laugh has always been contagious.
“Oh, but it is~” I watch him wipe the tears from his eyes only to begin his cackling again when he turns to look at my face. “Why the fuck would you tell her that?!?! And in front of her friends!!!!?!?”
Okay, so maybe I could have been more subtle in how I handled my break up with his sister. But as I explained earlier I had to give her a believable reason to hate me, to want to break up with me, to never take me back or pursue me. I never wanted her to find out the true reason. A breakup like this she could get over, but a cheating boyfriend involving her own brother would destroy her life; her womanly pride.
See! I was nice in the end.
“Look, you can laugh all you want, but it worked. I was wounded, beaten up and dragged like a ragdoll by a petite 70 pound (totally exaggerating) woman, but it worked.” Kibum shakes his head as he giggles under his breath. “Whatever, come on let’s go wait for Jinki, he should be home soon. I’m sure he’ll be more than happy to see you finally visiting.”
He stands in front of the apartment unlocking the door, the sweet smell of the interior invading my nostrils as he opened it. “It smells nice in here.” I say slipping off my shoes and following him inside. “Oh, must be the candles I lit earlier. Their scent can linger for hours after I’ve blown them out. I like them very much. Although, Jinki likes to say it’s more of an obsession.” His giggle reaches my ears as I look at the various pictures around the living room. “You want something to drink? Eat, maybe?” He asks, walking towards the kitchen.
“Sure.”
Kibum is busy rummaging through the refrigerator when his phone dings from the kitchen counter. I turn to look at him as he reaches for his phone, observing the changes in his facial expression when he read the message. “Looks like I’ll be sleeping alone…again.” He muttered to himself, chunking the phone over the counter and leaning his hands over it.
MY JONGKEY PLAYLIST: “Suit up” Pt.1/2
Have you ever been stuck in a situation so awkward that you’d sell your soul to the devil, himself, living your entire life in damnation if it meant getting out of there? Most of you would probably say yes, but I can guarantee that none is more awkward than my current situation.
I’m currently stuck in an elevator with someone I used to be rather close to. Someone who happens to be my ex-girlfriend’s brother, and whom I’ve slept with on more than one occasion, while I was still with her. Oh, and to top it all off, I’ve recently found out he’s engaged to my best friend.(Talk about a real life drama.)
Trust me, I didn’t know I was gay either. It simply happened, (again and again). We became too consumed by the sex that we started to forget reality, overlooking the people we may hurt if our little secret were to be discovered. So, we ended things midair, cutting every form of communication between one another. That is until Jinki introduced me to his soon to be fiancé, Kibum, a few months ago. And even then, I think all I said to the man was “nice to meet you”, right before feeding Jinki some sorry excuse and fleeing the scene.
Ever since then I have become the master of lies. Constantly having car issues, broken pipes, chore filled days, sick relatives, stomach aches—any excuse to avoid Kibum, I used.
And now? Now, I have no way out; I’ve been cornered. Silence suffocating us with its overwhelming atmosphere; awkwardness.
God, it’s getting hot in here. I bring a hand up to loosen my tie and clear my throat. Here I thought I would have a nice relaxing evening after work. But I guess I’m not that lucky, am I?
My eyes sneak a glance at the man beside me as they roam up his legs, torso, crossed arms, and eventually meet his feline eyes, that happen to be staring straight back at me.
I’m quick to turn my neck away, clearing my throat once again. Great, now he this I’m weird. I have to say something. This silence is killing me!
“So…” I say as my face slowly comes back up to look at him. “How’s the wedding planning coming along?” The sly smile displayed on his face falling as I brought up the topic. His head and shoulders droop as his fists grip and loosen at his side. “Peachy.”
“Doesn’t seem to be.” I mutter.
The man lets a gloomy laugh escape his lips. “Why do you care?”
“For a multitude of reasons, actually… First of all, you’re marrying my best friend. Second, we’ve hooked up on multiple occasions, and at one point you were also my brother-n-law. So on some level, regardless of our current situation, I care about you.”
Well, that certainly came out more sentimental than I wanted. I honestly didn’t expect all of that to fall from my mouth as freely as it did. Kick up the awkwardness another tenfold, please. But instead another meek smile appears on his lips.
“Jinki and I haven’t been doing so well. I don’t know, maybe it’s just the stress of the wedding or his busy job schedule. But we’ve been arguing constantly. We argued last night, actually.” He sighs and he rubs his eyes. “I didn’t sleep a wink. Which is probably why I look and feel like shit today.”
“How could you possibly ever look like shit?” The compliment slips my mouth before I could think. And there it was; a smile. A sincere shy smile on Kibum’s face. I’m too captivated by his adorable dimples that I’m caught off guard by his sudden question.
“Hey, you want to grab a drink with me tonight? I could really use one.”
“Huh?” Is he talking to me?! “Um, do you think that’s appropriate? I mean, you’re an engaged man.” I chuckle awkwardly as I rub the nape of my neck.
“Yeah, so? I don’t see anything wrong with it.”
Well, he doesn’t seem to care. “You don’t think Jinki will mind?”
“Are you kidding?! That’s all he’s been wanting these past months. It’s the only reason he decided to move into this apartment building. He figured if you wouldn’t come to us, we would come to you.” My eyes grow in disbelief. That sneaky little shit, I can’t believe he went to such lengths. “…and since you’re no longer with my sister I doubt she gives two shits about what you do and don’t do.” He laughs, remembering the night I broke up with her. Who could forget? Their house was torn apart. She was rather upset when I told her I couldn’t stand her anymore.
What? I had to spare her somehow. After sleeping with her younger brother, I’m pretty sure she’d prefer that than, “I slept with your brother and now I like men. Sorry.”
I’m brought out of my thoughts by the ding of the elevator doors opening and Kibum waiting expectantly for an answer. “Well?”
He does have a point, Jonghyun. What’s wrong with a few drinks? Maybe it’s the key to patch things up and finally move on from this mess.
“Alright.”

Welp, here we are.
Yes, this will be a two part drabble. So don’t worry. I’ll try to finish part 2 as quickly as I can. Keep and eye out. ^^
Oh, and I decided to play around with a different writing style. What do you think? (I probably butchered it. I think I’ll go back to my old one TvT)
Anyway, I hope you enjoy, this little “thang”.

MY JONGKEY PLAYLIST: “COMPANY” Pt.8
Before the “date”:
“What do you think? Red or black?” Krystal asks from her closet, holding up a red dress and black blouse.
Kibum looks up from his magazine for a millisecond before looking back down and turning the page. “Neither.”
“Wow, no hesitation, huh?” She scoffs as she disappears back into her closet. “Well, you asked for my opinion….and I gave it to you.” His eyes skim left to right looking at the latest fashion trends. “You could be less of a dick about it” Kibum breaks out into a wide smile as his friend continues to mumble things in her closet, shifting the hangers from one side to the other. “UGH! Being a girl sucks!” She flings a pair of jeans behind her. “Who set the standards of beauty anyway?!?”
Seeing that she wasn’t getting anywhere, Kibum sets his magazine down on the bed and stands up, making his way towards the other end of the room where Krystal was standing. “Move.” He nudges her out of the way and starts sifting through her closet.
“Ew.” He says, skiping the first dress.
“No.” skip.
“Oh, god. Why?” he holds up an old tattered sweater.
“Hey!” Krystal yells. “My grandma gave that to me!….its vintage.” Kibum eyes it up and down (as if the sweater offended his whole being with its mere presence) and tucks it away in the very back of her closet.
“I saw that!” She yells from the bed, standing up and heading over to supervise her friend.
“Whatever. You can dig it out later…preferably when I’m not here.” Kibum continues searching.
“Nope.”
“Next.”
“Definitely no.” He scrunches his button nose.
“…..hmm” Kibum pauses, tilting his head as he considers the outfit he currently held in his hands, eventually deeming it worthy.
“Here” He says, finally emerging from the depths of her wardrobe hell. “Wear this.” He hands her the outfit he managed to put together by some miracle. Krystal looks at him and then down at the outfit ‘casual but chic’ she thought, nodding in approval.
“You’d better hurry up and change. You’ve got about half an hour.” He says as he smirks down at his watch. Krystal’s head snaps up and turns to look at the little electric clock on her night stand, her eyes growing wide as she realized the time. “SHIT!” She scrambles to gather a pair of panties and her best push-up bra before making her way to the bathroom. “I HAVEN’T EVEN SHOWERED!” Comes her echoing voice from down the hall right before the bathroom door slams shut. “She’s always late anyway.” Kibum shrugs, grabbing his magazine and sitting on the bed once again.
Fifteen minutes later and Krystal is rushing back into the room, destroying everything in her path like a mini tornado. She drops her towel as she reached for the shirt on the bed, revealing her almost naked body in front of Kibum. “Krystal?!?!?”
“What?” She asks in all honesty as her head pops out from the hole of the shirt. “Oh come on, Kibum. It’s not the first time you’ve seen me in bra and panties…besides, not like you’d be interested.” She smiles poking fun at his sexual preference and how any man would kill to be in his place.
“Don’t flatter yourself. Trust me when I say, I wouldn’t be interested even if I DID roll that way.” He responds in the same teasing tone while rolling his eyes to the right. Their eyes meet for a brief second and as if on cue they both burst into laughter.
“…Jerk.”
“So, what should I talk about?” Krystal asks as she grabs the washed out boyfriend fit jeans Kibum had picked out. “I mean, you know how awkward I am when it comes to these things.” She adds as she shimmies them up her thin legs.
“I don’t know…you and I are totally different.” He sits up in the bed, leaning his back flat against the heard board. “…What I see as casual conversation, you might see as crossing the line of ‘personal space’.” He smirks with a raised brow. “True.” Krystal sighs heavily and looks up towards the ceiling. “…I’m starting to regret this already.”
MY JONGKEY PLAYLIST: “COMPANY” Pt. 7
“Hey”
Jonghyun turns his head to face her. “Hmm?” He casually, but politely answers. “I know this may be a bit out of line…” Krystal clears her throat hoping to bring out her inner flirt.
“…but, are you single?”
Jonghyun blinks several times, taken aback by her forwardness, the words escaping his lips before he could even think.
“Ye…Yes.”
Krystal takes a deep breath preparing to ask her next question. “Great! Would you like to grab a drink with me tonight?~” She tries to be as confident as possible. Her smile not faltering for a second.
“Um, tonight?”. Jonghyun questions still dazed, not entirely sure what was happening right now. Krystal begins to read the hesitation on his face. ‘No, you can’t let him back out now, Kystal. Do something!’ She gives herself another mental boost.
“Oh, come on. Don’t tell me you’re not a drinker?” Krystal laughs as she lightly slaps his arm. “…it’s the norm here. In business, everyone either smokes or drinks.” She chuckles again. “How else would we get by our shitty work days?”
Jonghyun stared into her eyes as she laughs. ‘Cute’ he thought. ‘You know, this could be good’. He continued to think to himself. ‘Drinks wouldn’t hurt and I did say to myself I owed her for dragging her around yesterday. Besides, people are starting to wonder about me. I haven’t been seen out in a while, especially with a woman. And I certainly don’t need any rumors starting up about me in this place’. With that, Jonghyun comes back from his thoughts and lets out a heavy sigh, hoping he wouldn’t regret what he was about to say. He turns to face Krystal smiling a closed lip smile and extends his right arm.
"I thought I should probably introduce myself. As yesterday wasn’t quite the proper time for introductions”. He extends his hand further towards her. “Think of it as my way of apologizing and accepting your offer for tonight”. He smiles widely. “I mean, the least thing I can do is buy you a drink or two after what I put you through yesterday.”
As they’re shaking hands the elevator doors open signaling Krystal’s floor. “Great!” She smiles widely, letting go of his hand and skipping out of the elevator. “See you tonight!~” Her melodic voice echoes down the hall. But before the elevator doors can close again Krystal reappears. “Oh, almost forgot.” She says, shoving her phone in his chest. Jonghyun juggles the phone in his hands, catching it before it hits the ground. “I’m going to need your number.” She smiled.
Jonghyun caught off guard, for the third time, by Krystal, stares at her and thinks ‘What happened to the extremely shy girl I thought she was’. He continues to stare, but lets a small smirk appear on his face before entering his number. 'What was he getting himself into’. He pressed save and handed the phone back to Krystal. With that, she snatched her phone from him, once again skipping out into the hall. “I’ll text you with the details! Bye!~”
The doors of the elevator close and Jonghyun’s hand remains in the same position it was in when he handed the phone back to Krystal. “Wow”. He chuckles, bringing his hand back down to his side. “Today is going to prove to be rather interesting, isn’t it?”. The elevator finally dings indicating his floor and Jonghyun steps out straightening his suit and tie. He walks down the hallway towards the reception desk where he greets Jen, “the gum smacking cow”. Not that she’s fat. She’s actually quite beautiful. She simply chews her gum like a cow’. He thinks to himself as he passes her, making his way to his office.
He enters his office, closing the door behind him. Unlike other bosses who uphold an open door policy, Jonghyun didn’t. He preferred to work uninterrupted, in silence. Thus, he made sure he always kept it closed. His employees knew better than to disturb him, unless it was of dire importance. Jonghyun makes his way toward his desk where he places his briefcase to the side, unbuttoning his blazer as he sits down. He gently moves his computer mouse to light up the screen and logs in. “First things first”. He says as he clicks on the email icon in the corner. ‘Twelve new emails’. He sighs, “Fun”. He skims the titles and notices that one of them is from his ‘beloved boss’. “I guess I should start with this one”. An eye roll along with another sigh come from Jonghyun. “Let’s see what the scumbag has to say”. He clicks the email and begins to read.
“Jonghyun, after having a long discussion with Mr. Kim of Marketing, in which he thoroughly explained the reasons for the delay, I have decided to give you, as well as your team, an extension.
I expect to have the new budget and proposal, WITH Mr. Kim’s most recent numbers, on my desk first thing Monday morning.”
“Well, he was being awfully generous, now wasn’t he” Jonghyun scoffs as he closes the email and moves onto the next one. “…I guess Kibum really does have some magic to him.”
(Meanwhile, in marketing.)
Kibum sits in his office waiting very impatiently on his best friend/assistant, who was supposed to be here over an hour ago with today’s marketing presentation for the department’s morning meeting. He sighs heavily. “I’m going to kill her.”….“Lord give me patience so I don’t.” Kibum buries his face in his hands, tilting his head back into the chair. He inhales deeply and is almost gasping for air when the door swings open. Another person falling victim to Krystal Jung’s abruptive entrances.
“What the hell is wrong with you?!” He exclaims as he straightens himself back on the chair. “Oh my god! You won’t believe what just happened!” she squealed, ignoring him completely. He continues to stare at her wondering why a prestigious man as himself had a friend such as her. 'I guess I should expect this from her.’ He thinks 'It’s not like it’s the first time she bursts in like this. I should really just call it the Krystal entrance.’ He's brought back when he feels a tiny pang on his forehead. “Did you just flick a paper clip at me?!” He looks up at her then on the desk where the little piece of metal had landed.
“Well yeah! You weren’t listening! I had to get your attention somehow. Called your name like five times”. She mumbles the last sentence, crossing her arms and letting out a small ‘hmph’. “Shows how much you care about what I have to say”. She continued. “Fine” he says massaging his forehead. “What’s so important that you were more than an hour late, busted into my office yelling at the top of your lungs, and had to throw a paper clip at me when I was in the middle of recovering from my sudden heart attack?” He asks with raised brows, emphasizing the “late” part in the beginning.
“Well the first part of your question is pretty obvious….I was hungover. Second, because I was excited. And lastly, I already told you…you weren’t listening”. She stands there tapping her foot incessantly. “Now, can we move on to the juicy part???”
“I suppose.” Kibum leans back in his chair, crossing his slim legs. “Shoot”. He nods giving her permission to continue. “Okay” Krystal turns and closes the door, Kibum staring at her confusingly. “I guess it really is something juicy if you’re closing the door.” She turns her around biting her bottom lip as she smiles. “Very”. Walking to one of the chairs in front of Kibum’s desk, she pulls it out and sits comfortably in it.
And so Krystal begins to tell her juicy story with amazing detail, Kibum’s smile growing wider and wider with every sentence. “Holy shit…”. He smiles unbelievably. “You actually fucking did it”. He stares at his friend in awe. “Oh shut up. I told you I could”. She says with an annoyed look. “You really need to start having a little more faith in me.” She adds, once again letting out a small ‘hmph’.
“Okay…” Kibum says as he tries to stop giggling to himself. “So, now that you’ve got him to agree, what’s next?” He asks uncrossing his legs, scooting closer to the desk and placing his arms over the top. “I don’t know” Krystal shrugs. “I was hoping you had some ideas.” “Oh, I have plenty of ideas~ But I don’t think you’d want to imagine me in such erotic positions~” Kibum implies with a smirk. “Gross, Kibum! Please, leave your sexual fantasies out of this for now. I know that I’m your best friend and all, but I’d prefer not to know what goes on in your bedroom.” Kibum leans closer over the desk and whispers “And who says we’ll only be doing it in the bedroom?~”
“Oh, my Go-oh-ew-ew- please, stop”. Krystal slaps her hands over her ears, causing Kibum to laugh heartily. “Okay, I’ll stop.” He chuckles, straightening back up in his chair. “Well, first of all, where do you plan on having drinks?…have you thought of any places?” He asks. Krystal raises her brows and then looks up towards the ceiling. “Mmm” She hums pensively. “No, not really. I’m not exactly sure we share the same taste.”… “You on the other hand.” She pauses to look back at Kibum. “You might share a whole lot more with him than I do.” She says to him. “Define ‘share’~…because I can think of a lot of things.~” He says playfully, once again teasing his best friend. “Key.” comes the warning, begging him to stop. “Okay”. He raises his hand up defensively.
“Oh, how about that place we went to last night? You liked it, right?” She suggests. “You mean the new bar by my place? Yeah, I thought it was pretty nice”. Kibum answers shrugging his shoulders. “Awesome! Then we’ll just meet there then!” Kim smiles at her enthusiasm “You really think that’s his style though?” She stops her short victory dance, looking back up at him. “Hey, you said it was nice. And you hardly think things are “nice””. She raises both hands, creating quotation marks with her fingers. “… unless they’re practically covered in gold”. Kibum is offended at the remark. “I DO NOT?!” he responds. “Whatever”. She waves dismissively, grabbing her phone from her coat pocket.
“What are you doing?” Kibum asks curiously, trying to peer over the desk at Krystal’s phone. “Looking up the exact name and address so that I can text it to Mr. Finance”. She responds as she concentrates on her phone, her thumb sliding up and down. “Got it!” Taking a screen shot of the name and address listed on their web site, Krystal sends it to Jonghyun in a quick text message. “Alright, well that’s done”. She says as put her phone on the desk and smiles at a very pleased Kibum.
(Back in Finance)
Jonghyun is typing away on his computer when he feels a small vibration in his left pocket. Keeping his eyes on the computer screen, he pulls the device out. He slowly unglues his eyes from the charts and number on the computer and brings them down to look at his phone. ‘a text message?’ He thought as he slides the screen to the right to unlock it. “Oh, from marketing girl.” He taps his thumb on the screen to open the message..
“Here are the details I promised. I’ll see you there at 9:00pm. Don’t be late. ;)”
Jonghyun can do nothing but shake his head and smile to himself. This girl was something else. How forward can she be? Did no one respect him in this place anymore? He honestly found this whole situation to be rather funny. “I can’t believe I’m doing this.” He sighs, replying to the text.
“I’ll be there.”
Send.

MY JONGKEY PLAYLIST: “COMPANY” Pt.6
Krystal spits out her drink.
“What?!?” She exclaims, staring with wide eyes at her best friend. The bartender staring at Krystal like she had just committed the most horrendous crime humanly possible. “You want me to do WHAT?!?!” She continued.
“You heard me.” Kibum smirks. “I. Want. You. To. Find. Out. If. He’s. Gay.” He enunciates each word to make sure Krystal got the message. “Oh, I HEARD you…” she says as she wipes her mouth. Meanwhile, the bartender is still staring daggers into Krystal as he wipes his bar…AGAIN. “You do want to be involved in EVERY waking moment of my life don’t you?” Kibum taunts, swirling the mixture of whisky and coke in the glass, the ice clanking inside.
“DUH, but what you’re asking is ridiculous…” Krystal explains. “Like, how the hell do you suppose I find out, huh?!?!” She raises her brows and rolls her lips inwardly, forming a straight line. “Should I stalk him? Seduce him? Try to sleep with him? Oh, even better…why don’t I just go up to him and ask him directly”… “Hey Mr. Finance, remember me? No? Well it doesn’t matter…are you gay?”. She expressed with full sarcasm.
Kibum rolls his eyes. “No, no, and definitely, no” he answers. “Then?!? How would you find out?”. She pauses. “Wait? Why am I the one doing this?” She furrows her brows. “Why don’t you do it!?!?” She then points an aggressive finger at Kibum.
“Simple, I don’t want to embarrass myself”. He says as he raises his hand to call the bartender. “Oh, and I presume it’s okay if I do?” Krystal questions. “Well, yeah.” Kibum answers as he received his new drink. “Ouch. Well, thanks for your honesty.” Sarcasm, yet again. Kibum laughs.
“Look, I can’t do something that risky. In case you forgot I’m supposed to be a successful “heterosexual” male in this industry. And being gay isn’t exactly looked highly upon in Korea, remember?”. He looks over at Krystal who seems to be processing the information. “And another thing, what if he’s not gay? Can you imagine what would happen to me?” Kibum continues. “I mean, the man practically wanted to kill me today. He hates my guts and I doubt he would keep something like this quiet.” He scoffs. “It’d spread like wild fire.”….“I’d lose contacts, friends, my status, and maybe even my job and career as a whole."
"Okay, okay, okay. I get it”. Krystal says, waving one of her hands to tell Kibum to shut up. “…You definitely have more to lose” She sighs. “I’ll do it.” Kibum smirks. “I knew you would.” She squints her eyes at him. “Asshole.”
“So, what do you suggest I do, ‘Almighty Key’?” She snickers as she takes a sip of her drink. “I don’t know?…that’s your job.” Kibum says, shrugging his shoulders. “What the fuck, Key?!”. Kibum couldn’t resist messing with his best friend. “I’m kidding!” He laughs. “Just flirt a little. Ask him out or something.”
“Ask him out!?! Like on a date?” Krystal almost chokes on her saliva. "If you want to think of it that way.” Kibum answers her. “Look, just ask him if he wants to grab a drink sometime. That’s it.” He pauses to look at a very perplexed Krystal and continues. “If he says no then maybe he IS gay, but we’ll never really know unless he agrees….that, or you’re CLEARLY not his type.”
"Hey!?! I’ll have you know, I happen to be plenty of guys’ type”. Krystal says a bit offended at her "supposed” best friend’s remark. Kibum chuckles at her abrupt cuteness and resumes. “If he says yes, then great! You get a better chance of finding out which way he rolls”. He winks back at Krystal.
“Drinks, it is” Krystal shrugs, sighing in defeat. “So, when do we start this "investigation?” She questions.
“Tomorrow”. Kibum grins mischievously. -
Jonghyun sits on his living room floor, leaning his back against the couch. “Where is it Roo?”…“Which hand?” Roo sits in between his sprawled legs, her little eyes following his closed hands. Left, right, up, down, right, left, down, up.
Her paw lands on the hand containing the delicious treat. "Oh, good girl!” He says heartily. “You’re so smart. Yes, you are”. He coos as he rubs his hands all over her head and face.
After playing enough with his sweet puppy, Jonghyun stands up and heads to the kitchen to make some tea. “Hopefully, something warm will help me sleep”. He says, filling the kettle with water and placing it over the hot stove top.
As the water boils, Jonghyun walks back to the living room where he picks up his acoustic guitar from its stand in the corner. He plops himself on the couch, Roo following and resting next to him. Jonghyun begins to strum the delicate guitar strings. “I haven’t written anything in a while…” He plucks the thinnest string earning Roo’s attention, her apple-size head popping up and tilting to the side. Jonghyun laughs at her cute reaction and lays his hand to his side to pet her head. “Should I write about the kind of day I had today?” He asks a very relaxed Roo laying on her belly. He smiles, but it soon falls as he reflects on his day.
“I’ve never been so angry in my life.” He grips the neck of the guitar. “Just looking at his face caused my blood boil”. Jonghyun paused briefly, remembering Kibum’s features. "His face…” fingers ghost over the guitar. His hands having a mind of their own. He faintly recalls the closeness of their faces, the slight tremor of his bow shaped lips as he got closer, the way his panther like eyes seemed to devour his soul with every breath. Jonghyun continues to fiddle with his guitar. “He was strangely beautiful”. He says unconsciously. “His features delicate like that of a woman, but sharp and chiseled like a man's”.
Roo whimpers as she stares up at her dad, who’s so lost in thought, he hasn’t realized he’s about to burn their house down with his boiling water. Jonghyun snaps out of his thoughts. He places the guitar on the couch, stumbling to get up and runs to the kitchen as he finally hears the loud whistle of the kettle. “SHIT!” -
Despite the mess he made last night, Jonghyun managed to get a good amount of sleep. He was currently in the front lobby waiting patiently for the elevator. He glances down at his watch while his other clutches his brief case by its handle.
On the other end, Krystal runs in the front doors, hair a mess, jacket half way on, her glasses about to fall off her face. “Fuck!” she gasps. Looks like last night’s drinking wasn’t such a good idea after all. “Kibum’s going to kill me.” She says almost spilling her coffee as she tries to juggle everything in her hands.
Her tiny feet shuffle across the shiny tile floor, but come to an abrupt halt when she sees ‘Mr. Finance’ standing in front of the elevator doors. “Dammit.” She says through gritted teeth. “Today is not my day~” she whines as she goes back towards the front desk and gathers herself, properly fixing her jacket and glasses.
She tries to flatten out her stubborn, frizzy hair, but it’s impossible. “Ugh! Shoot me…” Her arms drop to her side. “Fuck it!” She says. “Today is going to be casual Friday”. She uses the hair tie on her wrist to pull her hair up into a somewhat decent bun. Once done, she exhales heavily. “Alright. You got this, Krystal”. She gives herself a quick pep-talk before striding over to the elevator with quick steps. Jonghyun looks down at his watch again. ‘What the hell is up with the elevator today’ He thinks as his hand drops back down to his side. When he looks back up, he turns his head towards the front desk as if he wanted to ask what was taking so long. But he doesn’t even get a chance when a petite frame obscures his view, coming inches from his face.
“Hi, there!” Krystal smiles brightly.
Jonghyun clenches his chest, his fingers gripping tighly onto the front of his suit. “Jesus FUCKIN’ Christ.” He gasps as he stumbles and leans a hand on the wall next to the elevator.
“Sorry, did I scare you?” Krystal asks in a chipper manner, keeping that bright smile on her face. Jonghyun looks up at her with a look that screamed ‘No, shit!’ He steps away from the wall and tugs at the bottom of his suit jacket to straighten himself out. Krystal giggles and apologizes sweetly. “I’m sorry”.
She extends her hand to introduce herself properly, “Krystal Jung”. Jonghyun takes her hand. “Do you remember me?” She asks. “I obviously didn’t look this poorly put together when we first met.” She shows with her finger. Jonghyun is a bit muddled at the sudden conversation, but it eventually clicks as he’s still shaking her hand.
"Ah, yes! Marketing girl, right?” Krystal laughed at the nickname. At least they had something in common. She smiles at him. "Bingo”.
The elevator doors finally ding open.
"About time”. Jonghyun says. “I take it you’ve been waiting for a while?” Krystal asks as they both step into the elevator. “Yeah, I was beginning to think this thing was broken and I had to climb up five flights of stairs”. He jokes and presses the button to his floor and Krystal hers.
The elevator doors close and they begin to make their way up. ‘Alright, it’s now or never, Krystal’. Her hand’s start to sweat as she clasps them together. ‘Who knows when you’ll get a chance like this again? Come on, suck it up! Channel your inner diva. Confidence, Krystal. Confidence.’ She looks up at the floor indicator. Two more floors.
"Hey” Jonghyun turns his head to face her. “Hmm?” He casually, but politely answers. "I know this may be a bit out of line…” She clears her throat hoping to bring out her inner flirt. “but, are you single?”
Jonghyun blinks several times, taken aback by her forwardness. The words escaping his lips before he could even think.
“…Yes.”
Phase one, initiate.
