Animal Alphabet Poster for sale
A couple people have asked if they can get a copy of my poster, it's now for sale on Zazzle. With the basic paper it is just under 20$ plus shipping.
Zazzle will have really good sales from time to time so if you do want to buy it and maybe buy one as a gift or something at some other point then I'd recommend getting zazzle's email newsletter and waiting for a sale, they happen maybe every month or so.

Jon’s recent web design
Some of the web work I’ve been doing for Beyond Indigo (Pet website company) has launched recently. I thought all you adoring fans would be somewhat interested in how we were able to eat from September to April, this is it...
Naperville animal hospital is a vet from the town where my baby was born so I put a little bit more love into this one. (Please be aware that I didn’t make any of the logos for these places.)
Soldotna was fun because it’s in Alaska and all their photos were really nice, I’m not quite sure why they went with “Laser Therapy” for that image but that’s one of the little surprises you find after a site launches. I’ve also photoshoped out the facebook button that was added on after the fact because it’s silly.
Plum Street Pet Clinicwas a little more open minded about their web design so they were a really fun client. I’m happy with how this came out even though it was my least favorite design choice out of the three that I did.
This one launched a little while ago but I like that I used purple, who uses purple?
Art Projectz
Art is due for the Regeneration show this Sunday so I had my poster printed yesterday. Staples didn’t do a very good job printing it so I got a good deal which is a mixed blessing but nice because I really didn’t want to spend too much getting it printed. Anyways I’m pretty happy with how it came out, at full size it’s 12”x78” which makes it a pretty interesting piece to dive into as it takes up a lot of your peripheral, and the issues I was struggling with early on (mostly figuring out how it relates to the verse), I think are pretty much resolved.
The whole art show is based on Isaiah 61:1-4 (see below):
Extra points to whoever can tell me how these two pieces relate, especially at this smaller size.
I’ll give you some hints though: this project is basically a visual representation of how I see / feel about Oakland right now. The trick for me is seeing “a crown of beauty instead of ashes” or seeing “Oaks of righteousness” around me. This city has redeeming features but at first (6 months) glance it seems pretty God-less. The real hint is that I started to see the “Oaks of righteousness” once Jenelle got going on her project and I drew from her experience and conversations to pull it together. In fact we were hoping that she’d have a collection of Poems done in time for me to make a book out of the poster and her poetry but there is some major scope creep going on there that made it hard for her to hit that deadline. Once it’s all said and done I think they will be a combined in one sense or another, just not in time for the art show.
But yeah here it is, it’s been a pretty interesting process making this thing. At this point you could hide almost anything on the project and it wouldn’t look strange because the layers are so built from the ground up, kind of like painting the whole landscape before you put the figure on top of it. It’s been quite a process. I am getting a little bit sick of the color though so I wouldn’t be surprised if at some point in the future it was really a totally different feel...Anyways I’ve got a few more projects up my sleeve at the moment that will make and appearance here on the blog so keep checking in from time to time.
