Jorvik Divined Rune Bingo Hosted by @jorvegiancollective
Chaos: Create a new Pandorian creature. (Pandorian Cervine)
I personally like to imagine many of the actual “creatures” that inhabit Pandoria such as the manta rays are actually from Earth but ended up coming through rifts. Those that survived lived to evolve to suit their environment such as these deer from the wilds of Jorvik.
The magical energy of the realm is so dense that they have grown to embody it with new features including crystalline horns and a soft starry dappling across their backs even as full grown adults. Their magical properties also allow them to easily traverse the floating islands and escape shadow seekers.
"Three-eyed" Pandorian silkworm moth.
In ancient times, in some cultures of the Earth, moths were given magical significance, there was an opinion that they have a connection with all other worlds. It is not known exactly when and where they came from in Pandoria. Local legends say that the moths arrived with Aideen, following her light. She appreciated their desire for light and enabled them to interact with the fabric of realities. At one time, this legend gave rise to speculation that the silk that moths weave can be used to open portals to other worlds. Moths began to be destroyed, but evolution gave them some new abilities, such as crystallization of silk, making it immune to magic. They also learned to mimic the environment and "grew" three "eyes" on their backs and wings, in order to better feel the approach of the threat.
Mountain Rune Prompt: “Which race is the most difficult for you?”
The New Hillcrest race. The fact that the timer only gives you 8 or 9 seconds between fences means that, if you make the slightest mistake or get snagged on hitboxes, you’re guaranteed to have to start over. It also doesn’t help that the race has you cross water several times, which forces you to slow down and can cost you valuable seconds in making it to the next checkpoint.
Honorable mentions for other horrible races go to Paddock Island, as well as the Mistfall races. The terrain there is awful and the hitboxes are a stress-inducing mess.
I was going to try and draw this, but frogs aren’t exactly my specialty. But I wanted to talk about my big boy Rhythma from The Lucky Six campaign. Rhythma is a Pandorian refugee who was the leader of a Pandorian-druid group called the Order of the Gray.
Rhythma is part of a Pandorian species I created called the Island Leapers. When he isn’t disguised as a 9 foot tall pink-ish skinned human with ram horns and frog pupils (with a laughably bad Russian-esque accent on my part), he’s a 15 foot tall neon pink bullfrog with ram horns and a croak that can shake a mountain and legs strong enough to leap from each of Pandoria’s floating islands.
I miss getting to play my big guy in campaign, but I’m glad I got to share him while we had the campaign going.
Featuring Mountain, Fire, Waterfall, Crown, Chest, Direction, Breeze, and Swan.
Mountain - Which race is the most difficult for you?
The New Hillcrest race was by far the worst first-try experience ever. I did it on Midnightwarrior, a starter, with the best mood and good tack and everything and it was a nightmare, I remember nearly rage quitting multiple times due to the punishing times and the multiple swimming parts starting me over. Not to mention a single mistake and you have to restart, there is no room for error. I can do it just fine now, but I failed that so many times and I probably would have just left it for another day if it wasn’t part of a quest line.
Fire - Show us something you made inspired by the deck.
I mean what else are all of these for xD
Waterfall - What kinds of places do you go to relax?
In all seriousness, there isn’t a particular place where I feel “relaxed” on Jorvik. I enjoy places that don’t have other players, or quests/areas that hide all over players, or generally quiet servers. If I want to be social I’ll seek it out, but often times SSO is my relax/quiet place. I suppose I could have gotten a screenshot of me muting chat xD. Sometimes me relaxing is putting on music or a podcast and training or digging, just something mindless.
Crown - What was your proudest accomplishment on Jorvik?
I found all 100 spiders in under 24 hours. Fear me.
Chest - Create a treasure you think is in Jorvik’s museums.
Okay I’m not arty so sorry no art. But I’m sure there are tons of odd pre historic relics, tools and whatnot that have odd runes etched into them. And, going with my headcanons, probably a lot of unexplained stuff that rightfully shouldn’t be found on Jorvik, tools and styles that come from all over the world but are dated to be prehistoric Jorvik. Things like bits of pottery with ancient Greek, and tombs that have Celtic imagery but have Egyptian style art, and masks that resemble ancient Mesoamerican gods. These no doubt make the Ancient Alien Theorists go crazy and support their ideas of a global economy/network system, with all these cultures apparently meeting and mingling on Jorvik because they did. They’re probably wrong... or maybe they’re right...
Direction - Create a brand new Jorvegian rune and its meaning.
Again not arty so no art for this. This is also kind of difficult because I don’t actually know what all the runes are, so I don’t know what is missing and what already has a card assigned to it. For my headcanons though, an important rune would be something like “Hands”. In its most simple version, it’s one line angled down and another angled up, reaching for each other and both bent slightly part way, in more detailed it’s a hand reaching to help another one up. In my headcanons being welcoming and helpful is the cornerstone of Jorvik culture, as for hundreds of years people arrived on Jorvik thanks to Aideen’s direct actions to save them and bring them there. People from all over the world who had no hope, who were going to die, lost in the wilderness or the ocean or exposed to the elements, suddenly brought to Jorvik where they were cared for and joined the population there. Aideen’s only real rule for her island being that you were saved by my kindness, so you should save others with yours. Assimilation and mixing of culture and language was important, kindness was to be repaid and paid forward, so the symbol of helping others would be incredibly important to the old culture of Jorvik. I’m sure there is another rune that already matches up ‘welcoming’, ‘kindness’, and ‘mercy’ though. Oops.
Breeze - What kind of rumors have you heard about Jorvik?
Where is the nail salon James? I didn’t want one, I didn’t ask for one, you’re the one who kept saying it was happening. You kept mentioning it for years, saying and promising and swearing there would be a nail salon. Where is it James??? Where is it???
Swan - How do you envision Jorvegian dressage?
Mechanically? No clue. Maybe a sort of rhythm game? Have to press the correct keys in the correct order/timing in order to perform the move? Or an updated version of how it was done in previous games with the arrows and point system?? In Game context it’d be the same as dressage anywhere else, wouldn’t it? Be weird to have Anne competing on an international level if she was raised on Jorvegian Dressage and it was somehow different from the rest of the world.
Charlie is always drawn to that one gate in the Valley of the Hidden Dinosaur. You know the one. A small, scratched sign reads ‘To The Ashlands’.
It started with Ydris’s fortune telling tent. Ydris and his stupid fortune telling; “you will find your soulmate wandering the Ashlands.”
Charlie tried to dismiss that from her mind, as she usually does with Ydris’s fortunes, but she was unsuccessful, and found herself returning to the gate, staring at it in contemplation as she huddled close to her horse’s neck for warmth. And the longer she stayed, the more she felt something -or someone- calling out to her, urging her to come to it. She’s returned since then, and the call seems stronger every time.
But it is locked. It always is. Something burns in Charlie, summoning to her from beyond that gate, but even she can’t walk through a barrier locked by both physical and magical means. It’s beginning to feel like she’s destined to never set foot in the Ashlands- destined to never meet her soulmate.
This bingo is very fun, here’s another horizontal line! @jorvegiancollective ‘s 5000sc bingo! More infomation is on their page
Ground -What is your favorite region of Jorvik to visit?
Oh definitely Mistfall! I love how unique it is, I love the aesthetic and the music, it’s so beautiful, as a non sr I’m sad I can’t visit it anymore. I would genuinely just log on and ride around, listening to the music. So yeah, I love mistfall
Hmmm, Favourite Region? I think Golden Hills, is my favourite area!
Horseshoe -Create a new Jorvik Wild Horse.
How about a pony? Not like a zony pony but a fiery little pony!
Valley -Show us a memory of when you were new to the island.
I had… SUCH bad taste…
Storm -When were you most surprised during your journey?
Uuuh when SSO legitimately locked ¾ of the soul riders IN somewhere. Like? Inside a castle, inside a vortex[?], inside pandoria. I realised how without the pretty aestetics and the cover of a childrens game it’d be pretty dark.
Tree -What kind of friendships have you made?
honestly, I used to talk to so many people inside the game, less so now. But I’ve met people with the some really cool ideas via discord (shout out to the dark core fanclub & writers on jorvik, y’all are all really cool)
I’ve made friends with the most unlikely people! Some architects, druids, a crazy baker (who’s pie is… interesting). Mainly with Justin (which annoys loretta, a lot.) we’ve bonded over how sudden Jorvik went from a beautiful place of hints of magical to full blown fantasy with really weird events. He’s pretty cool.
Crane -Which Circle of magic was easiest for you to learn?
honestly? Because I was younger at the time, I found some of the tasks really hard for the circles. I think the sun circle had some of the easier quests though!
Lightning, for sure. Whilst I know Alex is often using offense with it, I was taught how to use it in a defensive manner, in respondents to my soul strike. Next I would say is the star circle, moon and then sun.
Sparrow-What do you dream of seeing added to the world?
More lore!! Lore is a fundamental part of the game, and im happy to see Catherine’s diary but just more infomation?? I know the you cannot dump infomation on people in a game, but I love learning about anything.
I think it’d also be cool to see another thing or two for non-sr.
et voila! I’ll be posting Cycle in it’s own post, since there’s 4 characters to draw, and i want it to stand out! Happy playing <3
