“Wonderful Days” by My Little Edgar Allan Pony & Jose Bold

I stumbled across Jennifer Mills’ poem “Wonderful Days” in the Poetry Corner of Jennifer Mills News Vol. 18, Issue 4 last winter and couldn’t keep myself from setting it to music. The demo sounded good, but I imagined it sounding gooder, so I reached out to John Osebold¹, offering to him but the modest reward of collaboration and music. He alacritously set to work gussying up the song.

I know sometimes wonderful days seem few and far between. But if you string together all the wonderful moments from the past year, it might make a wonderful half hour. Just 47 more of those and you’ll have a wonderful day. Do that again and you’ll have two wonderful days. And soon enough, you’ll be singing about ’em. “Your Other Self” by Jose Bold & The Remotes

A year ago, John Osebold—a band of a man—solicited contributions to collage together WFH, an early example of pandemic creativity.

I sent him a word salad in March 2020 and he turned it into this gem a fortnight later. Osebold noted:

I was actually stuck on that song until I tried out your lyrics, then it came together very fast.
