Rest in tremendous power to Civil Rights Icons John Lewis and C.T. Vivian. Rep. Lewis was the first Civil Rights Activist I met when I visited the Georgia State Capitol as a little girl. @repjohnlewis was my district rep in recent years and he gave me and my family tickets to visit the White House during the Obama Administration. I respected his activism as a child and even more now that I know that it takes a rare and brave being to fight the powers that be. ⠀ ⠀ Most of us are not willing to risks our jobs, comfortable lifestyles, white / dominate group approval, our relationships, our egos, or anything for that matter. John Lewis, C.T. Vivian, and so many freedom fighters lost, risked and dedicated their lives to liberating Black and oppressed people. I can never thank the ancestors enough for speaking and fighting for me/us. I/We must be willing to do more, speak up louder, act (get into as much good trouble as possible), and I/we must never stop applying pressure. Channel John Lewis’ charge: let’s get into this great revolution that is sweeping the nation... get in and stay in the streets... until true freedom comes! ⠀ ⠀ The ancestors’ fight must not be in vain and the next generations should only have to read about this struggle and not inherit it. ⠀ ⠀ #RestInPower #JohnLewis #CTvivian #JosephLowery CivilRightsLeaders #OGs #FreedomFighters #BlackLiberation #AmericanHeroes #AtlantaLegends ✊🏾🖤🤎 https://www.instagram.com/p/CCxZhl7AE_J/?igshid=oi5jtv3tqp1d
