Consider the dry-wash

where the flint core-

a frightening chevron

rising above the lip

of the well-

sends long, jagged

sparks along its

ephemeral length,

but the matter 

lingers for a time

which we will 

recall this

running valley

a fallen fertility,

desolation green...

The conception 

newly pierced

breaks alone

underneath this

shadowy concave 

grave to let death 

be consumed

by angular stone

scabbing thickly,

enduring the nature

conserved within the

volcanic heart...

and the silvery string

through its prostrate

core will remain tethered

-uncut in the end

of all, vanquished-

without a sting, recoil.
