It’s Thursday, August 13, 2020. And if you remember nothing else from today, please just remember this… there is not a story happening in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Friends, please keep sharing the story out of Iowa. I learned today that the schools in Cedar Rapids are all damaged - school, mandated to be in-person by the state’s governor - now will not be opening...indefinitely. Move to online school, some say. But these kids have no electricity, Internet is spotty at best, even cell phones have only spotty coverage because of damaged or unpowered towers. Electric stoves don’t work without electricity. Well water doesn’t pump without power to an electric pump. No air conditioning. Not even Tumblr.
Share the story you aren’t being told. Help get Iowa the help they need. And, while you are at it, wonder what other important stories you aren’t hearing. Don’t blame your local newscasters, they only have 30 minutes to tell you all the news. Ask what the 24-hour news sources are covering. They have the time.
