It’s actually sort of really fucking hilarious that the very idea of therapy had been poison to him in the beginning, not wanting another human being with doctor attached to their name to come anywhere near him. And now the very core of him lights up joyously and one arm comes around the shoulders of Dr. Alana Bloom without any hesitation at all.
Life can surprise you like that. Sometimes a fucking psycho- path chops off your fingers, but sometimes your therapist becomes your best friend, and sometimes you can learn to trust someone again, maybe.
“Long time no see.”
The sound she makes it soft, happy. She makes it a point to squeeze him just once in the embrace, a sincere gesture that communicates that it’s loving and very sincere. She has to stand on her toes to reach him, to pull him down to her height, to cup his cheeks and rest a kiss on his nose with enormous fondness.
“How are you, Miles?” It’s easy enough, winding an arm around his with a careful touch. She’s always very soft with him, handles him the way, she knows, she would like to be handled, would like to be touched. He is to be touched no way but kindly.
“Other than somewhat in need of a shave.”

Laying there, mostly on top of Miles while something mindless played on the television. Properly Approved Programming. It looks like some sort of fighting/dance show, Cecil isn’t entirely sure. It did make him wonder, though, if they were really keeping this thing casual.
