If you want to be consistent with journaling, figure out when you can insert doing it into an already existing habit. For example, if you sit down and have a minute while you drink a cup of coffee/tea/etc in the morning, get your journal out, etc and so on for other situations. It's easier to make a new habit if you can piggyback off of another one. The study of habits is actually a huge psychological niche and there's a bunch of research on it, especially because it helps with marketing and stuff for businesses.
Thank you for the advice, lovely x
Hi Beth, my biggest tip for journalling are journal prompts. I started my journalling journey with a pre-structured journal. While I liked to answer questions (opposed just writing smth on a blank space), it left little space for other ideas. So for my next journal, i want to select a repertoire of journal prompts i chose myself (pinterest is a great source) and answer one of those everyday. If you journal in the morning, something day-related could be useful (e.g. what can i do to make today good?) or reflection of the day before (e.g. what did i learn yesterday / how can i make today better than yesterday).
But those are just some recommendations, the best thing about journalling is you can do exactly as u please and everything is possible ××
Ah thank you for the advice, lovely 💕✨
Hey I love your writings so much so I had to get that green ink! I was planning on starting to journal in the new year but wasn't sure how i should start, any tips??
Hi! And thank you so much! About three fourths of my ink collection is all green ink. I keep telling myself I’ll expand to other colors and then I buy another green. What can I say, it’s my favorite color. Anyway, my advice would be to start with a lot of experimenting. Find out what works for you as far as journaling. I tend to do long form, most of my entries are a full page or more, but some people like to do just a few short sentences. I do paragraphs, but some people prefer lists and logs. For some people it’s all about artwork, sketches and such of their day. Try a little bit of everything and figure out what you like best and run with it. And don’t worry about missing some days, however many days you feel like journaling is the right number of days. And lastly I would say don’t compare your journal to everyone else’s. This is something I struggle with, but a journal is such a personal thing, the only person you have to worry about enjoying it is yourself. Hope this helps and let me know how it goes!
I just bought a fountain pen and I want to get into Journaling but my handwriting sucks and I feel like it would ruin the experience for me, since I'm really Insecure about it I'm scared I'll end up giving up cuz I'll be ruining the journal!
Hmm. So practicality wise here is what I would suggest; start practicing your handwriting in a cheap notebook or on a pad of paper or something and then move to a nice journal when you feel a little better about your handwriting. I have a lot of perfectionist tendencies when I’m journaling and so I’ve been forcing myself to simply turn the page if it didn’t turn out exactly the way I wanted and move on to the next entry. I know that’s easier said than done. And honestly, journaling isn’t for everyone. If writing gives you more anxiety than happiness you don’t have to do it. But if you really enjoy it then my best advice is to push through and find your style and comfort zone. I hope this helps! Message me if you want to talk more!
