April 4 - Ferry Home
It rained going and coming on the train trip to Georgia, so no pics from this trip. The train from Boston goes to Penn Station in NYC, and after a two-hour lay-over I take the “Crescent” to Georgia. [Its final destination is actually New Orleans]. I have tried to develop an affection for Penn Station, but in the end it has only inspired me to read Dante’s Inferno because Penn Station surely must represent some kind of purgatory: neither here nor there, dark and depressing, and with constant activity that appears to accomplish nothing. In general, I adore New York, but Penn Station seems to be in a different country.
After a night in Cambridge - the train arrival times do not connect with the (last) ferry departure - I took the mid-afternoon ferry home on Saturday. After a very gloomy train trip, the blue skies, white clouds, and sunlight looked particularly fresh and beautiful. Besides, there probably are not enough ferry photos on this blog (just kidding ...).
