Dill Flavored Jowar / Sorghum Flatbread (Vegan & Gluten-Free)
Better set up for some baking, at least! Luckily the manufacturer had some in stock when I checked a few days ago.
To my taste, at least, this type of sorghum flour is a good, mostly neutral tasting all purpose flour.
Especially handy right now, since I prefer to use at least part wholegrain in most recipes--for nutrition and flavor both--and most of the flour we have otherwise is the Dove's Farm white, which is mainly white rice and starches.
Now I should be better set up to start the salt rising bread experimentation. 😅
The Ultimate Guide to Roasted Jowar Crispy Flakes
In a world full of processed, sugar-laden cereals, finding a breakfast that is both genuinely healthy and satisfyingly crunchy can feel like a challenge. Enter Farmerette’s Roasted Jowar Crispy Flakes, a traditional Indian superfood reimagined for the modern kitchen. If you are looking to swap your refined grains for something more substantial, these flakes are your answer.
What Makes Jowar Flakes Special?
Jowar, also known as Sorghum, has been a staple in Indian households for centuries. Unlike modern cornflakes that are often highly processed, these Jowar flakes are kept close to their natural form. They are meticulously roasted to achieve a light, airy texture without the need for unhealthy oils or frying.
The Nutritional Advantage
Choosing Jowar isn't just a trend; it’s a lifestyle upgrade. These flakes offer:
Zero Added Sugar & Fat: Perfect for those monitoring their caloric intake.
Heart-Friendly: With zero salt, they are an excellent choice for maintaining healthy blood pressure.
Gluten-Free Goodness: Naturally safe for those with gluten sensitivities.
High Fiber Content: Keeps you satiated for longer, preventing mid-morning snack cravings.
How to Style Your Breakfast Bowl
The beauty of Jowar Crispy Flakes lies in their versatility. You can go sweet or savory depending on your mood:
The Energy Bowl: Pair with warm almond or soy milk, a drizzle of honey, and a handful of chia seeds.
The Probiotic Punch: Mix the flakes into thick Greek yogurt or curd, topped with pomegranate pearls for a refreshing meal.
The Crunchy Snack: Toss them with a pinch of black pepper and dried herbs for a guilt-free evening munch.
Pure, Clean, and Conscious
Farmerette ensures that what you see is what you get. By removing the additives, preservatives, and artificial flavors found in commercial brands, you are left with the pure, nutty taste of ancient grains. It’s time to move away from empty calories and embrace the "Millet Revolution" in your own cereal bowl.
Quick Guide to Instant Jowar Porridge and Roasted Jowar Flour
Mornings are crazy. You want something healthy but don't have time to cook for an hour. That's where instant jowar porridge comes in handy. And if you're curious about roasted jowar flour, we'll cover that too.
What Makes Instant Jowar Porridge So Convenient?
Think of it as the healthy version of instant oatmeal. Someone already did the hard work for you - they cleaned, roasted, and ground the jowar into fine powder. All you do is add hot water or milk, stir, and you're done.
Takes maybe 2-3 minutes. Perfect for busy people who still care about eating right.
Instant jowar porridge fills you up without making you feel heavy. It has fiber that keeps your digestion happy. And since jowar doesn't have gluten, people with wheat allergies can eat it without worry.
You can make it sweet with jaggery and cardamom. Or go savory with salt and vegetables. Some folks add nuts or fruits. There's no wrong way really.
The Story Behind Roasted Jowar Flour
Regular jowar flour is just ground grain. But roasted jowar flour? That's different.
The roasting happens before grinding. They heat the jowar grains until they get a light golden color and nutty smell. This does two things - makes the flour tastier and easier to digest.
Roasted jowar flour has this warm, slightly toasted flavor. It's not boring like plain flour. You can use it to make quick recipes without cooking it for long because it's already roasted.
Many people use it for making instant porridge at home. Just mix the flour with milk, add sweetener, done. No need to cook it on the stove forever.
It also works great in ladoos, chillas, or even as a soup thickener. Keeps for months if you store it in an airtight container.
Why People Are Switching to These
Look, wheat isn't bad. But variety matters. Your body gets different nutrients from different grains.
Instant jowar porridge saves time on hectic mornings. Roasted jowar flour gives you more cooking options without the hassle.
Both are naturally gluten-free. Both have good protein and fiber. And honestly, they taste pretty good once you get used to them.
Start small if you're new to jowar. Try the instant porridge first. See how your body feels. Then maybe experiment with the roasted flour in your regular recipes.
Jowar Dalia & Roasted Atta: Easy Health Guide
Simple Grains For Busy Lives

Make it savory with vegetables and spices, or go sweet with milk and dates. Either way, it gives you lasting energy. You won't feel hungry an hour later like you might with other breakfast options.
Jowar dalia is gentle on your stomach. The fiber helps your digestion move smoothly without causing discomfort. People with sensitive stomachs often find it easier to digest than wheat-based foods.
What Makes Roasted Jowar Atta Special
Roasted Jowar Atta has a unique toasted flavor that many people enjoy. The roasting process does more than add taste. It also increases shelf life and makes the flour easier for your body to process.
Use this atta to make soft rotis or crispy bhakris. The roasted flavor adds depth to your regular meals without extra effort. Many families now keep it as their go-to flour for dinner rotis.
This flour supports steady blood sugar levels. Unlike refined flour, it doesn't cause sudden energy spikes and crashes. This makes it helpful for people watching their sugar intake.
Fitting Jowar Into Modern Eating
Both these products adapt well to today's eating habits. Pack jowar dalia for a healthy office breakfast. Make jowar rotis for dinner in under 20 minutes.
These foods work whether you're following a specific diet plan or just trying to eat better. They're filling, so you naturally eat appropriate portions. Start with what feels comfortable and build from there. Small changes often lead to lasting results.

Millets and Joint Pain: A Natural Approach to Relief
A blog on millets and joint pain
Joint pain—whether caused by arthritis, inflammation, or age-related wear and tear—affects millions of people around the world. While medications and therapies help manage symptoms, many are turning to natural dietary solutions for long-term relief. Among these, millets have emerged as a nutrient-rich, anti-inflammatory food that can support joint health.
Why Millets?
Millets are ancient grains that have been part of traditional diets for centuries. Known for being gluten-free, rich in fiber, and loaded with essential minerals, they offer a range of health benefits—particularly for people suffering from joint issues.
How Millets Help with Joint Pain
1. Anti-Inflammatory Properties
Chronic joint pain is often linked to inflammation. Millets like foxtail, barnyard, and kodo millet are rich in polyphenols and antioxidants that fight inflammation and support tissue repair.
2. High in Magnesium & Phosphorus
These minerals play a key role in maintaining bone density and muscle function. Magnesium helps relax muscles around the joints, reducing stiffness and pain.
3. Natural Source of Calcium
Finger millet (ragi) is one of the best plant-based sources of calcium, which is crucial for strong bones and joint integrity, especially in older adults and women at risk of osteoporosis.
4. Gluten-Free Goodness
For individuals with gluten sensitivity or autoimmune disorders like celiac disease, gluten can worsen inflammation. Millets provide a safe, nutritious, and gluten-free alternative.
5. Aids Weight Management
Excess weight puts stress on the joints. The high fiber in millets promotes satiety, supports digestion, and helps in managing a healthy weight—reducing pressure on knees and hips.
Best Millets for Joint Health
Ragi (Finger Millet): High in calcium, excellent for bone strength
Foxtail Millet: Rich in antioxidants and protein
Kodo Millet: Great for gut health and inflammation control
Little Millet: Supports metabolism and reduces oxidative stress
How to Add Millets to Your Diet
Ragi porridge or dosa for breakfast
Foxtail millet khichdi or pulao for lunch
Millet-based snacks like cookies, crackers, or roasted puffs
Millet flour for making rotis or baked goods
