this is sahar chakrabarti, a 16-year-old indian american magical girl whose element is time and signature color is pink :)

her outfit is based on both steampunk and indian fashion. this is because in young blood, a magical girl's outfit reflects not only her element but her values and identity. i thought steampunk was a fun way to incorporate the time aspect, especially when considering how much british stuff ive seen adopted in indian communities (for obvious reasons) but with this in mind i didn't feel it was appropriate to go a traditional route with it, so her outfit also reflects her pride in her indian identity in having a silhouette which is bright and fun and very much not steampunk but does bring to mind indian fashion with her bare midriff and long flowy skirt

the outfits are all designed with the ideas in mind of what is important to the character and how they would feel comfortable dressing - which is also why she has shorts under her skirt and no cleavage

besides this, sahar like her girlfriend lana, who i intended to draw but couldn't due to the fact that i misjudged how much space i had, is a quite mischievous character. she has a generally cheerful demeanor, though she's more reserved than lana and so isnt necessarily seen as being as cheeky. she does tend to be more polite, but she's every bit as capable of being childish and immature, especially for a prank or a joke. her polite and kind but reserved attitide tend to endear her to others but also make her come across as mysterious, especially since lana is one of the only people she shares her thoughts with unfiltered and her mischief comes, to others, seemingly from nowhere. if you can get her to talk to you she'll probably say the most off the wall shit you've ever heard and make you realise that 'polite' and 'reserved' do not necessarily mean 'wholesome' or 'normal'

basically @officialgiorno knows æris and astrid's backstory and is ALSO a fan of devil may cry (which i know nothing about) and pointed out that even though they have a lot of differences there are a lot of parallels between them and dante and vergil

so we were like wow æris (protag) would hate dante and vergil would hate astrid (antag)
