exactly a year ago, i got published locally through the awesomeness of @omflit-blog (special shoutout to the lovely @toomichinfo ) AND we launched the anthology at the @manilabookfair! what an amazing albeit unfamiliar experience!!!
i am not big on getting my photos taken, but i handed my phone to my mom and she *delivered.* i think these photos (2, 5, & 6) are very telling of my common observance: if you view through the lens of love, everything becomes colored by/with it. my mother has no photography experience, but i hold these photos very dear (and thank God for backup! my old phone broke down early this August; was able to save a few shots), because i feel like i am seeing myself through her eyes.
all of these astonishments happened in a time when i was in throes of carrying this great grief. being part of this anthology feels like a prophetic declaration: after our mourning, we will and shall be clothed in joyful light. i still hold on to this idea despite AND especially these times.
selah.
