What did you think of JPNA2?? I really enjoyed it butttt I feel like it got too drama-heavy in the back half. I felt like I was watching PNJ because of all the heavy dramatic monologues and what not and it just didnt work for me. The one liners were great though.
I really enjoyed it also! It’s the perfect holiday film that’s absurd in a really entertaining way!
**SPOILERS** Things I loved:
One of the things that I love about Vasay Ch’s writing is the pop culture references. The references are actually relevant and not where we are still making fun of Meera.
Humayun Saeed’s jokes prior to meeting Kubra, his suicidal track was so funny. He’s such a star because even with so many actors he killed it in every scene.
I was pleasantly surprised with Fahad Mustafa because it always feels like he’s acting with himself but he was great with an ensemble cast.
Mawra Hocane has incredible screen presence. Even though she has a small role, she owned every single one of her scenes! Her character had so much class and morals.
Mawra Hocane and Sohail Ahmed as a father-daughter duo!! ♥️♥️
**SPOILERS** Thing I didn’t enjoy:
I did not appreciate the constant fat-shaming. The jokes are so old and easy to make that it felt redundant.
Although it was so much better than JPNA1 (where Vasay Ch didn’t even try to hide the homophobia) some of the jokes definitely had homophobic undertones.
Kubra Khan was the weakest link from the actors. She’s a very dull performer. She has no screen presence, her dialogues are so rushed with no range. She was so uninspiring whenever she came on screen.
Yes, I know its a “boys-film” but all the girls had one character trait throughout the movie. Mawra: makeup, fashion, Sarwat: Has her husband wrapped around her finger, Uzma: non-existent, Kubra: Damsel in Distress. Vasay Ch, needs to write better female characters.
Also, Kubra said in her interview that Celina was like her irl, a girl who’s carefree and independent girl. The only “independent” thing this girl did was go rock-climbing. She was subservient to her father, couldn’t do anything without a man. How was this carefree and independent?
