Came here for Buttons because of Mixed Messages, ended up reading the comic you are doing with him and my opinion on this character went from "Fun asshole" to "Can someone give this man a hug" real fast. Your art style is amazing by the way!

Jonathan avoids sleep like the plague but when he does sleep, he needs to be hugging something. If he isn't, he just can't fall asleep whatsoever.

that has so many sad implications. Does he crave the feeling? Is he making up for a terrible childhood by hugging something? Does it comfort him? I’m sure it does. This is just...so sad. I love it.

1. tmnt i love my boys.

2. walking!! jumping around the house!! and most importantly, doing it so while listening to GOOD JAMS

3. astrology!! 

4. learning about the Brain. basically i love reading about psychology! 

5. drawing but art is on thin ice bc our university made me hate SOME part of it with a passion. being an artist sucks but drawing? it’s Good.

What is your character’s biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before?

His biggest flaw, and he wouldn’t consider it a flaw, is that he can be very controlling. This has never destroyed a relationship, but it has made them difficult. He’s the kind of person who’ll need reassurance that you’re just going out to get juice, and not to cheat on him. He’s not controlling in the way that he needs to literally control every aspect of his partners life, but control gives him comfort. As he has been through a lifetime without it. Does that make sense?

I think that Jonathan is probably the only person capable of helping some of the rogues with their mental problems, he just choses not to because it wouldn't be well recieved and also because he is far too busy with his toxin and helping others isn't usually his thing. But if he tried he would for sure be more sucessful than anyone working at Arkham ever could. I fully believe he has the skills to manipulate some of them into getting better.

Oh fully agree. Jonathan is a great therapist when he’s trying to help people and not using them for his own selfish needs. He could even help Bruce Wayne if given the chance, and honestly…he’s the best thing to ever happen to Arkham.

Jonathan used to have fear of crows, at least in some versions, right? I like to imagine that when he decided to conquer that fear he ended up finding an injured crow and made it his mission to take care of it until it healed so he'd learn to tolerate them. Once it was fine, Jon set it free. But since crows communicate with eachother, the crows now knew Jonathan meant food and help, and that is how crows started appearing near him.

You’re right, in Year One he was punished by Great Granny with vicious crow attacks in the aviary. Not a lot of people like this concept, but I do. This is a REALLY good idea you have here, and I totally subscribe to this. Imaging him taking care of a baby crow that needed help? Gosh that’s adorable. He’d probably bond with it, name it, all that jazz.

When he had to set it free, he’d feel a twinge of emotion, something akin to sadness. He wouldn’t admit it, but he’ll miss that crow.
