Based in Richmond, Virginia, J. Roddy Walston & the Business are the epitome of how to rock. With a raw, gritty sound, this quarter of Southerners would have fit in smashingly with the Seattle grunge-era of the 90s, and that sound is shown here on Heavy Bells. After a relatively calm buildup, the chorus shows how well Walston’s gravelly vocals combine with the energetic guitars of Billy Gordon, and the song ends with a chaotic ruckus of pure rock n’ roll. This song is off their third full-length album, titled Essential Tremors, and it’s a true lesson in rock.
