headcanon: your fav thing to dress up as for halloween is either a fandom character or a witch or smth i dunno-
i almost always dress up as fandom characters or just weird, obscure things/objects. real examples i have dressed up as:
-a UFO (not an alien; a UFO)
-thalia grace from percy jackson
-medusa
-the who when you call "who's there" (this is one of the lines in this is halloween if you cant quite tell where its from)
-a spider
etc. ive also been a cat, witch, and ghost when i was younger though SSDHDSJ
and this year im thinking about dressing up as a queen from six... hmmm.....
hastur is autistic and here’s why
i know, the fandom loves making fun of the duke of hell for his always-on-edge attitude, and so do i! he’s been one of my favorite characters ever since i read the book, and the show just intensified my love for him. he’s one of the few lesser loved characters in this fandom which makes me sad, but i love him and i absolutely adore the way he was portrayed in the show by the actor ned dennehy.
recently i came upon one post by tumblr user @meltingpenguins and the idea just kinda struck me - what if he’s autistic? and that concept totally makes sense in a few ways. so, since i also happen to be autistic and i relate to the character a lot i’m going to explain it in this post! :)
and yes, i know this post is probably gonna anger a few people. because oh, autistic people aren’t allowed to be evil in media! they’re all sweet uwu sugar buns that can’t do anything wrong! i believe it’s all bullshit. let us do what we want to do and have the headcanons we want to have. anyway, let’s go!
the most common trait of autism we can see in hastur is social awkwardness. he’s also known to be extremely difficult to talk to, since he takes things literally and generally has a hard time understanding how to respond in interactions with other people. take a look at one of the scenes in hell in episode four where him and his partner ligur discuss crowley before hastur heads off to the fields of megiddo to meet the false antichrist. it takes time for hastur to understand what ligur means, as he always takes things literally (as shown in the screencaps below).
he stated himself he has a hard time understanding jokes too.
and he blurts seemingly random things out sometimes... take this moment from the previously mentioned scene for example.
or the avocado “joke”
his infamous “hastur la vista”
in the same scene we can also see him biting his finger really hard - i assume it’s one of his stims since the demon seems extremely overwhelmed and nervous in that scene.
hastur’s also not a big fan of loud noises. in episode one during the scene where he dissolves the chattering order we can see him shudder because of the cracking caused by the lightning he summoned himself.
he also has a hard time controlling his voice’s volume, hence the occasional yelling and moaning coming from him in different scenes.
so, here we go. thanks for coming to my ted talk about why the character i relate the most in the show is autistic. feel free to add more if you have anything else :) ciao!!
p.s. i apologize if the post didn’t come out as good as everyone thought it would be. i have a very hard time composing my thoughts into a post, especially if it’s in english. i’m sorry if there’s an error or a typo somewhere that i didn’t spot. :c
Are you self taught or an art student?
well- kinda yes to both but not exactly?
i've been learning art on my own, through tutorials and stuff like that, but i've also been to college for my graphic design degree (which is an art major)
so i could say i learned lots of stuff about art in there as well, though most of them theoretically (like art theory which was one of my fav subjects)
we had an art class once or twice a week as well but we didn't work with our personal styles, it was more about learning how to use our lighting, shadows, using a bit of colour theory on paper, perspectives and stuff like that
personally I developed my art style like 3 years ago after my 1st semester in college, so maybe graphic design was the reason i started drawing more and developing both traditionally and the last 2 years digitally as well
this is so inspirational alexa play put your records on
