Homomorphic encryption becoming a reality, the key is 'performance'

...  After IBM proposed homomorphic encryption in 2009, the industry recognized the need for standardization and has been standardizing it in the form of a consortium. Since last year, public standardization organizations such as ISO/IEC have also been promoting standardization. Homomorphic encryption standardization-related organizations include 'Homomorphic Encryption Standardization', ITU-T SG17, and ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC27.

...  산업통상자원부 국가기술표준원과 과학기술정보통신부 국립전파연구원은 지난달 20일부터 30일까지 온라인으로 열린 ‘제6차 인공지능 국제표준화회의(ISO/IEC JTC1/SC42)’에 산학연관 전문가 33명이 우리나라 대표단으로 참가해 ▲AI 서비스 생태계 표준화를 위한 신규 특별작업반 설립 ▲설명 가능한 인공지능(XAI) 신규 국제표준 제안(NP) ▲머신러닝 데이터 품질 신규 국제표준안 작업 지속 등의 성과를 거뒀다고 밝혔다.

The International Organization for Standardization, which is a “non-governmental international organization with a membership of 164 national standards bodies,” is teaming with the International Electrotechnical Commission to develop a portfolio of AI-focused standards.

New ‘Versatile Video Coding’ standard to enable next-generation video compression

...  The experts team responsible for the development of VVC recently agreed the technical specification of the new standard, moving VVC toward final ITU approval with the ‘consent’ to enter the concluding ‘last call’ phase of its standardisation process. It will be published as ITU H.266 | ISO/IEC 23090-3.
