Juan Deuce & J57 | El Oh Vee E | Music Video
Juan Deuce you sweet rapping, bearded man you! Juan & J57! drop the visuals for “El Oh Vee E” off of the stellar EP Sock Money that dropped on Soul Spazm recently. Not only do I love the EP and this video, but that “Calzones” t-shirt is DOPE. Watch the video, then jump over to iTunes, or Amazon to purchase the record!
Juan Deuce | Sock Money EP | Album Review
This year has kicked my ass with the steady stream of dope albums, and we still have 3 months left in 2015 to handle! I need a second head, with more ears to process this flooding of dope shit. With what is his 2nd project of the year (check January’s Falside produced Galapaghost out), Juan Deuce delivers the J57 produced Sock Money EP that is 6 songs of pure MC skills over some head nodding jazzed out boom bap.
I said it once already but it’s worth noting that in my opinion Juan possess that quality that made me a fan of folks like Redman,Psycho Les,Big Punisher, and oddly enough MC Serch. Charisma and skills teamed with a voice meant for the art, and humor! Bump the single track “El Oh Vee E” with the slick horn stabs, and Juan’s laments over love that, in someone else’s hands could’ve been corny, but not Juan. This is that mixtape track you put on the list for your girl.
Though the record starts and ends quickly, you’re left with the only real option and that’s playing it again. With songs like “It Don’t Take Much” featuring a dope verse from Jaysonic, the somber “Shelby”, or the incredibly infectious “Fake Flowers” which might be my favorite right now. I would implore J57 & Juan Deuce to bang out a full length for 2016, but for now I’ll be playing this on repeat.
