I can’t believe that I lived in Scotland for almost 14 years before I found out that they have their own version of the jucy lucy. The difference is that the jucy lucy is cheese sandwiched in two thin burgers and grilled, while the Scottish one, called the “cheese n burger” is two patties sandwiched around cheese and then battered and deep fried, and the bun is optional.
It is an abomination. A delicious, delicious abomination.

Dinner! Had Juicy Lucys with Dr. Scotch’s parents at 5-8 Club.
I’m going to give my answer of the old Minnesota food question: “Who makes the better Juicy/Jucy Lucy between the two ‘rival’ inventors?” Without a doubt, it’s Matt’s Bar.
I accompanied Kevin on the St. Paul leg of his Burger Quest adventure, but he seems to agree even though we didn’t compare notes after hours of burger talk. He is a burger expert after all.
