Survivor season 41 episode 2 in a nutshell
State-of-the-Mary-Dragon Address.
I have started a new job. I am a full-time nurse... technically for the first time. I’ve had full-time hours before, of course, but I was always per diem. This is a salaried government job that allows me to work from home, so I’m not at risk but I’ve got my hands FULL.
On week 10 of 14 in my second-to-the-last semester of school. REALLY looking forward to being done. Just have one class and a practicum next semester and then I’m done FOREVER.
We adopted a puppy. Because of course we did. He has three legs! My ongoing documentation of my fur-children can be found on my IG, the.mary.dragon
My Best Boy, Mortimer, blew out his ACL. He only has 2 good knees without that one (he’s our OG tripawd) so we had to get it replaced. Thank you, new job, for getting me the cash flow to pay for his surgery. He has a strict activity limit until mid-January, so he is the official reason I started drinking (conservatively) again. He really thinks he should be able to play frisbee. He really can’t.
My dad’s most recent cancer screen came up clear. My family is (currently) healthy...? It has been so long since I could say that, omfg.
My D&D game is on hiatus because I have NO TIME to plan high-level encounters for 7 players, especially when sometimes there are 6 and sometimes there are 8 and pathfinder balancing is FUCKING QUANTUM MECHANICS.
I, sometimes, with great infrequency, have the time and motivation to write. It is sporadic at best, but it brings me joy. I am reading nothing outside of required text for school. I am a couple episodes behind on Crit Role and I love Supergiant’s HADES with my entire soul.
Lastly, my new job is outreach, resource assistance, and contact tracing for COVID cases (so, case management but on a very large scale) in a community of roughly 30k within an hour of my town. SO if any of y’all have covid questions, my ask box is open. I can’t violate HIPAA or get too in depth with my town in specific, but I will do my best to answer honest inquiries made in good faith. When I’m able to log in. So expect a bit of a delay.
okay, so my life doesn't really suck
Please forgive my rantings from the other day. I was feeling low and every time I tried to get out of my funk, I'd get dizzy and have to sit back down. That'll make anybody feel crappy. However, today, I went to the Physical Therapist and had an Epley Maneuver performed. Weird as this looks, it seems to have done the trick. Whatever little crystals that had broken free in my ear tubey-thingies (not the technical term!) were trying their best to escape my head, but the PT did this thing where he grabbed my head, spun me around the room, ripped my head off, juggled it with some clubs and a chainsaw, scotch taped it back on and I seem to be as good as new. (I wouldn't recommend trying that at home, unless you have really strong scotch tape).
I've kept my head as still as possible all day (I'm starting to look like Lurch from the Addams Family) so as to get those nasty brain crystals to settle back down into the tubes and stay there. I've been running errands all day with 14 and after being on the go from about 9:00 this morning, I'm feeling better than I have been after lying around all weekend. So YAY for Epley, whoever he is, and YAY for the PT who took care of me.
And boo for vertigo. Vertigo sucks.
