day 26: the verdict on juice alone
eliminating smoothies for three days was doable, but tough. abstaining from smoothies on a short-term cleanse makes a lot of sense because you want to pack a solid detox into a short amount of time. but it's rather difficult to do while on a long-term cleanse because the body needs that bulkier substance to sustain productive energy.
by day 25 my body had long-since busted through the biggest part of the physical detox period and i was on the maintain and sustain train. i went for three days on juices alone and treated myself to a guru smoothie on christmas morning. that day i had more energy, more drive, and better focus. i am a big fan of adding our superfood boosters to my smoothies, with my favorites being bee pollen, maca, pure synergy, rice powder protein, camu camu, and mint
it goes without saying that smoothies are higher in calories than juices. if my goal was to lose 20 pounds, i would have steered clear of smoothies, or else limited myself to one every day or two. but as of day 15 i was down 11 pounds and that's perfectly fine with me. i look and feel better than ever and feel completely recalibrated.
