yeah turns out if you disable the music in the out of game config, Juiced 2 becomes playable, because for some reason the music interferes with the handling? unfortunately the regular race physics, while playable, are still pretty much garbage, especially considering this game came out around the same time as NFS Pro Street. cars have no weight to them, not an inkling of a suspension, which gives them a general feel of being made of cardboard. however the drift physics are like really good?? like better than in Pro Street?? I don't really get it, it's like two entirely different teams coded the two race modes.
J2 also has stuff like detailed character customisation for your driver, actual crew racing, actual pink slip races, a bunch of gimmick race modes, and of course an incredible selection of rides, and some of the best bodywork customisation options in any racing game I've played. like a whole bunch of great ideas and attention to detail went into this game only for it to be fucked to hell and back by bad racing physics and a crippling handling bug on top of that. Juiced could have gone on to become a serious threat to Need for Speed's arcade racing monopoly, but someone somewhere thought J2 fit to be released in this state. great job...
