Julep Strainer Pendant Necklace
Here’s my latest posting @dotwearjewelry on Etsy! This Silver Julep Strainer Pendant Necklace with Mint Green Chrysoprase Beads as well as decorative Tibetan, blue, and orange tube beads with orange cord closure is wonderfully unique and distinctive.
The focal point of this long necklace is an antique AA silver-plated scalloped shell julep strainer with beautifully detailed handle and cutout star. The julep strainer became popular in the late 19th century when ice was first introduced for cocktails. While people enjoyed their drinks being cool, they didn't want them diluted with ice – the strainer was born. Being from the late 19th century, the piece does have an aged patina on it and carries the mark of W.R. & Son. The spoon measures 5.5" x 2.75". The drop length of the entire necklace is 20”. In addition to the julep strainer the pendant includes a naturally shaped green Chrysoprase bead and an iridescent Czech glass bead. The Chrysoprase bead is a member of the quartz family and is believed to represent hope, compassion and love. The necklace is made up of decorative turquoise colored oval beads and orange tube beads with asian inspired carvings. The finishing touch is a a series of decorative Tibetan style alloy spacer beads in a variety of designs. This necklace has been artisan designed and assembled for an eclectic mix of color and culture for a one of a kind statement piece.
