Repetitive beeping stirred Jules from sleep. She blinked several times to clear the fuzzy haze of sleep from her eyes. Glancing around the room Jules knew two things to be evident, she had no fucking clue where she was and she was hooked up to several machines in what seemed to be a hospital.
“Morning Princess.” A feeling of dread overcame Jules. Bile rose up her throat, choking her. The curtain pushed back to reveal the man who carried her out of... well where ever she had been before this. Jules thought she had been saved but perhaps she had been wrong.
Jules bit down on her lip to stop it from trembling. “Please don’t call me that.”
The man’s brows furrowed over his green eyes. “I don’t...”
“Galahad please step aside.” An older balder man said. The younger one, Galahad, stepped aside but stayed close enough to watch. Jules felt small under the older man’s attention. “So how are you feeling today, Princess?”
“I’m not a princess!” Jules snapped, thoroughly frustrated and confused. The past 48 hours had been confusing enough. The young woman was desperate for normalcy, to feel like herself. “Sorry, it’s just I’m not a princess...I’m just-”
“Then who are you?” The bald man asked gently.
“My name’s Jules.”
The bald man adjusted his spectacles and nodded, taking the new information in stride. “Well Jules, my name is Merlin. How are you feeling?”
Jules looked down at her lap, trying to make sense of everything that’s happened. “I’m more confused than anything else.”
“That’s understandable.” Merlin nodded thoughtfully. “You’re safe in our facility. You were mistaken as a princess, yes? The men that took you were in hot water. They owed some very dangerous money so they hoped they ransom money they would get from you or well who they thought you were would help.”
Jules released a shaky breath. It made sense. Every time she begged them to see reason the men that took her got a wild look in their eyes. “Then who are you two?”
“We’re Kingsman agents.” The younger man said proudly.
“Kingsman?” Jules repeated with furrowed brows. “An independent secret service.”
“So like spies and shit?”
The corner of Galahad’s mouth quirked up. “Yeah, something like that.”
